Since this forum lacks pages for navigation and is not so good to navigate, I often skip a few hundred posts here and there by just clicking down that arrow. It’s what i do when the subject matter is not very important.

He’s probably getting Trent’s wages

Up to £355k a week for Wirtz and Bayern actually offered him more. Not sure I believe that.

Looking at the inflation of the transfer fees which corresponds to the increasing amount of TV revenue. It’s only natural that the wages are inflated too.

A 350k wage now would effectively correspond to a 230k-250k wage in 2018. From the footballer angle , there’s some justification as to why Wirtz or any footballer is demanding these level of wages.

That assumes that the said footballer is someone who delivers and doesn’t became a Sancho or the latter sterling.

I agree that the consumers are the ones who are paying the front w.r.t matchday ticket prices , tv subscriptions etc etc but that’s the game right now. As Cynnie would say , neoliberal free market capitalism designed to gouge the end consumers.

Also shows how Liverpool have stuck to moderating the salaries for their footballers. Even for world class ones like Alisson , VVD and Mo (the later two upto now).

Jesse Lingard till the time he left United was earning 250k a week. Sancho earning 300k a week. Sterling 325k a week. We’ve done quite well in the salary front to restrict our wages. Maybe tailoring them into the more performance based incentive model.

I think Wirtz’s salary will be scheduled accordingly as well. Salary based on accomplishments.

Really don’t think we will pay a kid over £300k a week with his first contract with us.

Hes not a kid though is he. Hes a 22 year old full German international.

If you are interested in seeing Wirtz play for Germany, the Germany vs Portugal game is supposed to be live on Amazon Prime in the UK.

For those of us in Germany (or with a VPN, cough, cough…) it’s on ZDF:

(Also, if you can pick up the Astra 19.2E satellite array you could pick it up in the UK. Just don’t go doing a Rod Hull on us fiddling with the dish).

I also don’t think so and don’t think we will.

But then, I also didn’t think that we will plonk 100+ mil on one player.

We can only trust that they make good decisions and yes has proven to have done.

29 games for Germany and 140 Bundesliga appearances. Very impressive at 22!

I’ll try and have a look at him. The match is an interesting fixture anyway. :+1:

Awaits the internet judging a player on one match in a glorified friendly at the end of a season.

@Cologne-Liverpool is it true that Cologne will get some money now as well? I read somewhere that is around 3 mio€.

(Wirtz comes from the Cologne Youth Academy)

No idea, read that on here, possible though obviously. Small change in comparison, but tbf they need all the money they can get to throw it out the window.
Edit: Did a quick check on some local media. Apparently they are due something, though the numbers seem to vary :man_shrugging:
