Wasn’t he at Charleroi and Køge the last three seasons? I can’t comment on Charleroi’s football team, but it’s one of the sketchiest, druggiest cities I’ve visited in Europe (and not the good kind).

He only got a contract at Køge through Agger. Probably only got a contract at Rangers through Stevie.

I just came here to post that.

You’d need to learn something as it’s something odd like only 5% speak English out there. It’s not Portugal where you easily get away with it and most under 40s speak it pretty well.

As I liked to say to my ex he was a bit of a anomaly in that, crazy that no one really knew what we were saying half the time to each other. Bar the time this lad overheard us and asked us if we were from England (my ex had a London accent in English oddly enough).

Anyhow sorry for going off track.

No surprise.

One of our building blocks from yesteryear never to be forgotten. Portrays a simple reminder of how far we have come as a club over the past decades…

Suarez still scores back at Nacional his first love and makes them win the league. I bet even at his age he would have scored at least half the chances we missed this season. :scream_cat:

Won that same league also back in 05/06.

19 major trophies for Suarez, only didn’t win with one side; Groningen.

Impressive career in the end for someone who maybe in the middle of his career wondered if he has enough time to achieve big things.

And he went on and did it.

Rodgers crazy decision.

Didn’t they actually play better than the team that played the home leg?

Yeah 1-0.

Just looked back at who we had in that group, utterly embarrassing that we went out to Basel and Ludogrets.

If I remember correctly they lost by three less goals than in the home leg? So yeah a better performance. :+1::nerd_face:

Yeah but did RM need to try in that 2nd leg…
Bodgers was a coward of a manager, certainly when it came to European games

I never understood the anger at the decision. That result was never going to be what determined whether we went through, and with the game coming 4 days before a crunch game against Chelsea it made sense under the circumstances. I get the message it sent, but pretending we were in a better place than we were isn’t a smart strategy either. I mean the fact we didnt get anything in the Chelsea didnt help his cause, but it doesnt change the soundness of the approach.

This is my memory of it as well.

Yeah they had Basel at home and Ludogrets away a win coupled with the draw they got in the other would have been enough.

The fact it wasn’t speaks volumes how bad it was.

He decided to throw a CL tie against Real Madrid at Bernabeu. Of course it caused widespread anger not only among the fans but probably among the players as well. What ensued was an insipid performance and another loss to Chelsea at Anfield. It might have made sense at the time considering the circumstances but by sacrificing one game he ended up giving up a lot more.

In any case, when it came to low points, the two losses to R.Madrid didn’t make much of a difference. Going out to Ludogorets and Basel though, losing the semifinal to Villa playing abhorrently and the Stoke humiliation take much greater precedence.
