Yeah, I remember I liked him more than most fans seemed to at the time. I think a lot of that was down to the popularity of the player he replaced, even if Finnan himself wasnt as appreciated as he should have been until his place became threatened and then taken (by another Spaniard). But I think regardless of what anyone thought about him, its pretty clear that it took us a LONG time to get back to a point where were anything like as well served by a FB as we were by either of those two once he left for Real.

Always thought it was a shame when Arbeloa left and felt Madrid got him too cheaply. Torres on the other handā¦

I prefered Finnan (still to this day the 2nd best RB Iāve seen for us), but didnāt mind Arbeloa. At first, he looked a bit meh, even though he had two solid games at LB against Messi. But then his level actually grew, he kept things simple and was reliable. Not that I mind it, as Real is his club, but I did feel a few times after us that heās a very radical Madridista. One of those up Perezās arse type.
