Championship club Stoke City have signed experienced goalkeeper Andy Lonergan on a short-term deal.

The 37-year-old was a free agent having been released by Liverpool following a season with the Premier League outfit.

Lonergan has made 353 league appearances over the course of his career, which has included spells with Preston, Leeds, Bolton and Fulham.

The Potters were in need of back-up after Niki Maenpaa suffered a hand injury in training.

What Stevie in, instead of Lampard or Scholes?
The sheer injustice of it all.Haha.

Henry is a little bit of a head scratcher considering he played his prime years for a team who famous failed in the CL year after year. really difficult to argue with any of the others.

Houllier oh Houllier.

Still don’t understand how Jari was underused so much. He was all about brains on the pitch, and complemented pacey players well.

Maybe it was that heart surgery during the 2001-02 season which caused Houllier down the path of Diouf and Diao over the likes of Anelka.

That’s just bizarre. Puyol at LB and Lahm at RB?

Alves has to be at RB surely? Then either Lahm, Carlos, Maldini, Alaba at LB. Maldini personally.

They just try to shoehorn in the players who have received the most selections and nominations for TOTY, I’d say.

I just enjoy the fact that Stevie is there. It’s a delicious STFU to Chelsea and Man U supporters.

Whose the manager?

Evidently, it is not just us who “won’t understand”. It’s any club who wants to win trophies.

Top 3 forwards, top keeper, top 3 midfielders and top 4 defenders. Whoever it is has then tried to put them in some semblance of sense but failed with the defence clearly. Lahm easily could/should have been listed as the LB in that formation. It’d then have to be Puyol or Ramos at RB. Not perfect either way but they’re the top 4 defenders so have to get them in somehow.

I’d go Ramos right-back, Lahm left-back and Puyol next to Pique, with those four.
But I’d have had Alves in for Puyol, anyway.

I’d have Gerrard further forward and Xavi at the base. Lahm at LB, Alves at RB. Lewandowski or Drogba at CF.

It’s not a bad team though.

Saw a statistic today on Dom Solanke.

1g/1a his first 42 appearances with Bournemouth but in the last 21 has 9g/3a. Always seemed a likable lad, I’m happy for him he’s finding his level and prospering.
