To be honest, I can’t remember the other games Karius played for us. It’s probably an age thing. I just recall that one game putting an end to any chance of him playing in the Premier League again.
Reina was a very good keeper, but I do agree he was overrated.
He was often called world class by Liverpool fans, and he certainly wasn’t that. His handling and goalkeeping of the near post left a lot to be desired.
He was a good shot stopper, good with his distribution, very quick off his line. He was also vocal and a good leader/organiser. He would suit our current team, or City better than Donnarumma.
Compared to Alisson though, he’s not even close.
How does Karius rubber hands get into any conversation?
If we had got hammered 4-0 or something yesterday the Arne would likely have been sacked on the same day Shanks was appointed.
So glad it didn’t happen.
There will never be another quite like Mr Shankly! I am far too young to have seen those days first hand, but have watched/read/listened to enough older fans to understand that how important he was to this club can’t be overstated.
The above picture of Shankly, outside St George’s Hall. I’m somewhere amongst that crowd, with my dad.
That’s awesome mate!!
I have that on my wall.
Unfortunately he once played for us.
Karius took a knee to the head from Sergio Ramos in the CL final. Ramos got away with it, just as he did when he tried to rip Salah’s arm off.
For Karius, he was concussed and it affected his spatial awareness, leading to a couple of big errors. There were several big things wrong with the whole sequence that were not addressed properly by the match officials and the medical officials. Poor Karius didn’t get it back together again for us after that game, before we parted company.
Don’t get me wrong. He was not an elite goalie, but I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for him because of the unfortunate circumstances.
He also made 2 good saves after being concussed though so it’s hard to say if it’s the reason he blew it. He was an awful goalkeeper for us from day 1 - still the only prem keeper who I’ve ever seen take a goal kick and kick it out for corner, but I do sympathize with him because that night tarnished his entire career which must have been a tough thing to deal with. 30 years from now say ‘Karius’ to any football fan and that’s what they’ll know about. There are plenty of shit keepers who are way worse than him and won’t get that baggage to carry, but that’s the price of playing for a big club I guess. Hugo Lloris in the world cup final was as bad and on a bigger stage, but he got away with it! Unfortunately for for Karius we lost and he will only be remembered for those fuck ups.
Isn’t that a couple of years old now, sure I saw it last year
When it comes to Karius for me he just wasn’t physically up to it and signing him was a complete fuck up.
Whether he made errors or not just doesn’t bother me.
The less we talk about him the better.
Its definitely an old one, which means I should know who are the two sitting between Fowler and Grobs?
Is that Jim Beglin next to Grobs? He looks really familiar. And is the other one Craig Johnstone?
He is the only goalkeeper who I’ve ever seen drop crosses during a warm up before a match. Well at football league level.
Between Rushie and Mark Wright, it looks a bit like Psycho Pearce but it can’t be him. He didn’t play for us, did he?
Fairclough.
He only cost about £4m, and came in after strong season at Mainz.
For me he in the category of worth a punt. And anyway, had we bought a proper keeper at that point, we’d never have got Alisson.
