What about these two? How did it go so wrong?
I think reflect on now and feel how it’s improved would be better.
Kenny-Rush, no, Kenny-Suarez, no Kenny-Salah, No Kenny-Fowler Oh! I give up just put Kenny inthen toss a coin, perhaps?
Apparently Lambert played 36 times for us that season. Why is it I can’t remember a single appearance?
Seemed like a nice lad and was passionate about the club, but he must surely be up there as one of the most unremarkable first-teamers ever to play for us.
Not bad as such, just completely unmemorable.
Meanwhile I remember Balo stinking up the place on multiple occasions
Proposed XI of Unmemorable Players You’d Totally Forgotten Played for Us (min 10 games):
Westerveld
Jan Kromkamp, Abel Xavier, Kvarme, Ziege
Pennant, Zenden, Leonhardsen, Barmby
Lambert, Ngog
You could watch an entire season of that lot playing and come May have not a single memory of what happened
I remember Lambert tripping over the ball.
Unfortunately he was so slow and uncoordinated that he just looked like a fan randomly pulled from the crowd and asked to “do a job”.
I think I remember him scoring a decent goal against Villa that season…?
Igor Biscan.
Pretty sure he must have been made up.
Diao
Song
Leto
Moses
Walsh
Josemi
Nunez
Hooper
Vignal
Kozma
Piechnik
Tanner
Dundee
That’s 13. Oh well.
Hooper in goal. The rest others can figure out!
Like I’d ever put St Igor in a list that wasn’t Bestest Liverpool Players Eva!! The very idea.
I should have said I was going for PL era, also I’d put the likes of Diao, Nunez and Dundee on a worst players ever list, rather than simply an unremarkable one.
I never fail to be surprised when someone reminds me we bought and played Jermaine Pennant.
Igor Biscan - man of the match away at Juventus in 2005.
Scored the 4th in 4-2 win away at Fulham (we had trailed 2-0).
Great player.
Victor Moses was quite unremarkable.
The very idea that he could do anything for us was so flawed.
Also, I loved Rafa, but starting Pennant in a CL Final was madness…he was never any good for us.
Add Paul Stewart
Brilliant at Spurs
Brutal at Liverpool
I can, Barmby scored against Everton. I know, because I was there.
“He’s red, he’s white, he scored against the shite, Nick Barmby!!”
I remember eggnog. The football genius who killed that little optimist in me that I had that year.
I need a list of most annoying players, I’ll start with Joe Cole, Stewart Downing, Gini Wijnaldum, Karius, Skretel (in his final years) … I’m sure we can add to that. Oh! yes Glen Johnson (in his final 3 years with us).
I read the This is Anfield article from which I lifted the photo. In it Lambert complains about Rodgers putting Balotelli ahead of him in the depth chart. The reality is a little more complicated. They were both shitcanned fairly early on in favor of Raheem Sterling up front, but check out the stats.
Lambert was actually as efficient as Sterling, who was soon off to a mega-contract at Man City. They were both, however, less efficient than Daniel Sturridge, who easily bested them both in spite of being on the training table most of the time.
14/15 Premier League Season | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Minutes Per | ||||||
Player | Minutes | Goals | Assists | Min/Goal | Min/Assist | Goal/Assist |
Daniel Sturridge | 749 | 4 | 2 | 187.3 | 374.5 | 124.8 |
Raheem Sterling | 3,053 | 7 | 8 | 436.1 | 381.6 | 203.5 |
Rickie Lambert | 823 | 2 | 2 | 411.5 | 411.5 | 205.8 |
Mario Balotelli | 939 | 1 | 0 | 939.0 | N/A | 939.0 |
I feel quite sorry for Stewart though, after finding out what he went through in his early youth career.
Most annoying XI (to me)…
Dudek
Johnson Skrtel Lovren Moreno
Diouf Can Lucas Kewell
Lambert Balotelli
Sterling was a 19/20 year old winger forced to play up front on his own because of how dogshit the other options were (and how injured Sturridge was). I don’t think it’s fair to highlight his efficiency in comparison to Lambert. The trajectory was clear n both players.
Albert Riera, I don’t know why but i was always unimpressed with him
