Apparently Lambert played 36 times for us that season. Why is it I can’t remember a single appearance?
Seemed like a nice lad and was passionate about the club, but he must surely be up there as one of the most unremarkable first-teamers ever to play for us.
Not bad as such, just completely unmemorable.
Meanwhile I remember Balo stinking up the place on multiple occasions

I remember Lambert tripping over the ball.
Unfortunately he was so slow and uncoordinated that he just looked like a fan randomly pulled from the crowd and asked to “do a job”.

I should have said I was going for PL era, also I’d put the likes of Diao, Nunez and Dundee on a worst players ever list, rather than simply an unremarkable one.
I never fail to be surprised when someone reminds me we bought and played Jermaine Pennant.

Igor Biscan - man of the match away at Juventus in 2005.
Scored the 4th in 4-2 win away at Fulham (we had trailed 2-0).

Victor Moses was quite unremarkable.
The very idea that he could do anything for us was so flawed.
Also, I loved Rafa, but starting Pennant in a CL Final was madness…he was never any good for us.

I need a list of most annoying players, I’ll start with Joe Cole, Stewart Downing, Gini Wijnaldum, Karius, Skretel (in his final years) … I’m sure we can add to that. Oh! yes Glen Johnson (in his final 3 years with us).

I read the This is Anfield article from which I lifted the photo. In it Lambert complains about Rodgers putting Balotelli ahead of him in the depth chart. The reality is a little more complicated. They were both shitcanned fairly early on in favor of Raheem Sterling up front, but check out the stats.
Lambert was actually as efficient as Sterling, who was soon off to a mega-contract at Man City. They were both, however, less efficient than Daniel Sturridge, who easily bested them both in spite of being on the training table most of the time.

Sterling was a 19/20 year old winger forced to play up front on his own because of how dogshit the other options were (and how injured Sturridge was). I don’t think it’s fair to highlight his efficiency in comparison to Lambert. The trajectory was clear n both players.
