Thanks for the heads-up! I’ve been using it for ages but I wasn’t aware of the hack.
new topic incoming for all the useless computer dudes like me, to ask all the IT gurus advice on anything from which thingo to plug into the thingamagig to which whatsitmacalled to run when you need to combobulate something
1st question.
aussie centric.
need to set up a cheap website thats litterally just a reference ( dont need a shopfront or cart etc etc) with a link to an email
i looked at weebly and webago
kinda lost… cost looks about right, 10-15 (AU) a month
generic templates and my own photos are fine
Not sure how those websites work.
The easiest way I would do it is buy cheap hosting $10 a month, a domain $20 a year (.com more expensive, .info cheap). 99% of hosting would come with Wordpress. You would need some basic knowledge, or at least know how to use ai (I use grok) to help walk you through the process.
Can you not just use google sites? Think it’s free.
If it’s very simple, buy a domain name, and the cheapest hosting package, and upload an html file (You can very easily generate and modify this with an LLM).
If you really don’t plan to build anything remotely complex, you can’t beat that simplicity. I’d recommend using Wordpress only if you want to do something more complex with multiple pages, etc.
In terms of pricing, you can hardly beat this, which should be enough based on your requirements: Get started with a web hosting plan | OVHcloud Ireland
If you contact me by MP, I’d be happy to help.
Has anyone else found that NordVPN starts playing up and blocking your network connection every now and then?
I have noticed a couple of times in the last 1 or bit over, that Nord will block my pc from connecting to home wifi until I remove it and reinstall it. Has happened 3 times in maybe the last 14 or 15 months
I will reply here as to not derail the original thread.
I wouldn’t call myself an audiophile but I’m genuinely striving to find the best value in TWS market (got my first TWS almost five years ago - the level of improvement of the technology in the meantime has been staggering). I’ve not had any issues with hearing loss or ear infections just yet, thankfully.
Like @redalways said, that segment (especially sub-200€) has been dominated by Chinese manufacturers for years. Pay attention to that because they will sometime use advanced codecs like LHDC that not every phone manufacturer supports (Windows doesn’t natively support either LHDC, or LDAC).
I’m currently using Oneplus Buds 4 and Moondrop Golden Ages 2. I would recommend the first to everyone but those who buy the top end earphones - I’ve honestly run out of superlatives, especially at the price I paid (60€ via Aliexpress). Golden Ages 2 are not as user-friendly (no wear detection, chunky case, parametric EQ that has quite the learning curve) but their sound signature is pretty much neutral, so they can be tweaked to your liking. Took me a while to get the hang of them - they sound amazing, which is to be expected from a company that specialises in Hi-Fi equipment.
Actually, I was thinking just about the wired ones, good shout for the wireless buds though.
I have a pair of Jabra IEM, which I really liked using until the ear canal inflammation issue that I suffered during last Autumn. That is the reason why I picked up a pair of Shokz open ear buds that is no longer inserted inside my ears. The nice thing about the Shokz is that I do not seem to have ear fatigue using them, as they are so light and the ear hooks are very flexible. The Shokz is also LDAC capable. I need to figure out how to have my old Samsung phone to work with that codec, and how to use the best codec available on Windows, as you have mentioned. Unfortunately, unlike the Jabra IEMs, the Shokz do not seem to have quite the oomph, even with higher volume.
I have a pair of wired on ear V-Moda, and a pair of BT over the ear Sony WH-1000XM2. The sounds on these are really good, but I can only use them for about an hour most because of ear fatigue.
I’m one step away from ditching my idea of a gaming pc and going fully on cloud GPUs
Whatever games I do buy , the finances make complete sense to me.
I have to spend 200k INR for a decent gpu build whereas all I need for cloud hosted games are the game license , internet plan (which is really affordable in India) , a really good monitor and my old laptop
Also , that doesn’t take into account all the other incidentals.
Isn’t the impedance / resistance ratio the key factor.
My old 2.1 still beats all the other new fangled shit in terms of sound clarity etc 10 times out of 10. The crispness of the notes etc etc.
Apparently a real ad for ‘Alexa+’
Portentous..
