A bit late. But why was this remark necessary?

Amongst other things.

I’d hate for the uprising and new governance in Bangladesh to be another Arab spring.

Fake news.

“there was no question of a Pakistani upper hand.”

Yeah, that’s an ominous possibility.

Fuck Pakistan really. Why did he need to make a remark on India’s Siliguri corridor ?

I don’t recall Dr. Yunus or the Foreign Advisor making any remarks.

Yeah, some of the Young Turks has chosen India-Bashing to raise their stock.

But BNP, the party India used to dread most, is proving to be the matured head in the room.

He mentioned that.

Thanks for posting this. I liked that quote:

In the book, she describes how Trump called her after the massacre, and it’s subtly revealing about both of them. “We discussed what might happen to the terrorist,” she writes. “I used that word, ‘terrorist’, specifically and President Trump asked if we were calling the gunman that.” She said to him: “Yes, this was a white man from Australia who deliberately targeted our Muslim community. We are calling him that.”

Trump did not respond, but asked if there was anything America could do. “You can show sympathy and love for all Muslim communities,” she told him. It was the reverse of the politics of division: she says that the terrorist “chose us because he knew that New Zealand openly welcomed people of all faiths. He wanted to destroy that.”

Regarding a Russia post “special operation”, how quickly will it be integrated into the normal global environment. Will it be held accountable for the damage it has inflicted and/or given a probationary period? How quickly will countries and large companies be able to return to do business with and in Russia?

Sadly, I can only see a boom period for Russia once “peace” is “won”…

Not sure where to put this, but, fucking hell!

What a horrible statement. How to piss off everybody in the crudest and most ignorant way possible…

Declare him persona non grata and deport the shithead back to where he came from.

Not sure that is affordable.

Maybe not, but it would be gratifying.

He’s despicable, but we knew that already. No surprise there.

Referring to the Dresden bombing as an excuse to continue the Gaza genocide is referring to one of the most terrible episodes committed by the Allies. An episode that should never have taken place.

So, fuck off, you ignorant, insensitive ****.

Poignant reminder of the price that is paid and the horrors that can be inflicted by wars.

It was hugely controversial at the time, let alone from a historical perspective.

The one thing that I always find astonishing about the Nagasaki bombing is that it wasn’t even the intended target. The plane was meant to drop the bomb on Kokura, but it was obscured by mist when they arrived and were diverted to Nagasaki instead.

The most powerful weapon ever deployed in human conflict wasn’t dropped on its intended target. Just think of that for a moment. 70,000 people died as a result and it wasn’t even the military plan.

And, by the way, the bombing of Dresden had little military value as the city was full of refugees from the Eastern front rather than soldiers.
It was a calculated act of murder of civilians and a war crime. In that sense, it was not dissimilar to Gaza.

My mother-in-law lived in a village about 30km north of Dresden. Her Grandfather was meant to be attending a birthday party there, but his train was turned back by soldiers. Apparently, they could see the firestorm from the village to the point that they could read by the light of it.

Weirdly, one of the few of her extended family that survived was in a concentration camp as he was a trade unionist.

That’s interesting, I didn’t know that!
