Interesting spin and lies from Iran, after Russian delegation left Theran. Probably wants something from RU or who knows, might want to impress Trump

They are world leading at underestimating the situation they are in tbf . Only Hamas and ISIS are more skilled at miscalculating (Hamas massacring thousands and kicking off what everyone and their dog ought to understand would mean a completely horrific war they would lose, while ISIS went to war with everyone, thinking they could win). Now Iran is of course far more rational than these fanatical fascistoid la la land actors, but is still world leading in miscalculations and misjudging own power.

Let us hope the Iranians are more scared of the US than it appears in their nonsensical bluster, or many in their leadership might be surprised to find that one morning they wake up buried under rubble.

thank you for that article.

i struggled at the time to understand the reasonings, is it blatant ethnic cleansing? and if so, why would the UAE bother getting its hands dirty like this?

is there a larger political gain?

the human story is horrific

as true as that saying is, i was more looking for a brief recap, instead of an instruction to do my own homework.

on face value what could a small city in the desert offer up as a reason for the UAE to bankrole genocide?

from a basic level of understanding, if it was sitting on a pile of untapped resources im sure theyd be better served using soft power?

This may help clear things up. Gold is your answer

“Although the UAE claimed that it is seeking to counter the resurgence of political Islam in Sudan, it is, in reality, exploiting the conflict to secure access to Sudan’s valued resources, including its vast gold reserves, agriculture, livestock, and Red Sea ports. The UAE is a well-known international destination for gold; in the course of a decade, $115 billion worth of undeclared gold from Africa was imported into the UAE. The UAE’s anti-Islamist narrative does not hold water. In fact, the RSF itself was created by the Islamists.”

I have seen your posts and I can write something about the background, if you wish. But I am not at home today so it would have to be later, as I don’t want to write on a phone.

When I am a phone I prefer to only write very short posts and I would also have to google as I dont have perfect memory of details

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are what used to be called the “Janjaweed” militia, a genocidal arab nomadic militia (they are biological racists). They are infamous for their slaughter during the Darfur Genocide. These were later incorporated into the Sudanese army after the Darfur Genocide and were rebranded “The Rapid Support Forces”.

However, in 2023, the so called general of the Rapid Support Forces, who shared power with the Sudanese president (also a highly problematic regime of war criminals, but everything is relative, RSF are just far worse as they target ethnicity with specific aim to destroy ethnic groups), broke with the government and cast the country into civil war. This has gone on since 2023.

The UAE supports the RFS (who seeks to conquer the country) because it primarily seeks to defends its large investments in Sudan. It’s probably about labour market too. They have supported the arab RSF since after the fall of dictator Omar al Bashir.

So the UAE is not specifically behind the massacres of that city and in the country, but they specifically finance the faction behind it, because they back Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo Musa, the general of the Rapid Support Forces.

The UAE thinks it is favourable to their interests that Sudan is not stable. The RSF could not have waged conventional war without the United Arab Emirates who bankroll the faction and supply them with ammunition.
It is geopolitics at it’s most cynical and coldhearted.

Good to see Japan’s young people getting political again after decades of apathy.

I just wonder if these anti-war, pro-pacifist constitution young people are the same young people who voted in the Trump loving Takaichi and her far right wing of the LDP?
