Due to complete lack of interest, I stopped posting updates on the collapse in Mali and the potential take over of the country of jihadists.
But the Wagner group has taken severe losses in men and material.
And right now, 150 of them are surrounded.
I didn’t realise that Wagner was still a thing. Weren’t they taken over by the regular Russian army?
They call themselves the Afrika Korps (yes, this way of writing it is intentional and how they write it). But it’s essentially Wagner. It was taken over by the Russian army, but it is now just a wing of said army. Russians use it for rotation from Ukraine to let experienced higher value veterans rest. But it’s Wagner.
I have no idea where to even put this. Just found it an interesting read.
I couldn’t have done that. Still yet to learn how to ride a bicycle.
Rwandan genocide suspect Kabuga, 93, dies in custody
Felicien Kabuga, a suspect in the 1994 Rwanda genocide, has died in custody, a U.N. court said on Saturday. He was 93.
Kabuga was arrested in France in 2020 after more than two decades on the run and extradited to The Hague. He was later ruled unfit to stand trial because of dementia and was also deemed too ill to return to Rwanda.

Does this undermine the junta’s case for holding on to power?
Sure, but the rebels in question are Al Qaida, ISIS and ethnic Tuareg militias, so not exactly a wonderful replacement to the junta.
