Golf! What a great way to 'waste' 4 hours

This has been a story thats tumbling for a few years i believe. Still going. I honestly thought there was legal protection to SSSI’s.

Golf does like to sign its own death warrant.

Many golfers are just as thick as footy players.

on a lighter note, we have a small 9-hole course at our family-shared weekend place and have fit in a good number of beers (i mean rounds) playing it this year. Longest hole is 289y, shortest is 103y. Two short par4 and seven par3. All of the greens are pedestal, so sticking them can be tricky. the course is tougher than it looks but well kept for a small private course.

A few weekends ago, I got out on a quiet morning with just a few folks on the course. I don’t keep a score, I just keep a running +1/0/-1 tally in my head. At the last teebox, was still sitting at 0. Let me tell ya, that was one of the most nervous swings/chip/putt combination of shots I’ve had in a very long time. I’d never shot a par before on any kind of course, it was quite a good feeling.

I’m usually a 10-15hcp so I was quite happy, especially using a throw-together set of clubs that we leave down there:

TM R7 Draw
TM Burner 3W
Mizuno MP60 3-PW
Vokey 58deg
Ping putter.

Beers were definitely tasty that night. :beers:

Justin Thomas, after shooting a first round 78, is standing on the 18th tee at -11 for his second round at TPC Sawgrass. Needs par on 18 to shoot course record.

As I type, he hits his drive into the right rough.

JT didn’t shoot outright course record, but did tie it. Second shot he had to punch under a tree limb, and it looked like the long grass caught his hosel a bit, turned the club face over, and he yanked it into the water. He then proceeded to almost hole out from about 80-90 yards after the drop. THAT would’ve been amazing, but he gave himself a kick in for 62, and a tie.

Guessing #18 at TPC Sawgrass will not make it into his favorite holes. +4 on that hole alone over the first two days.

What JT did do is set the record for best stroke difference between the first and second rounds. 78 on Thursday, 62 on Friday. Beat the record of 15 shot difference.

Masters next weekend.

Looking forward to 4 days sat on my arse.
Took a punt on Min Woo Lee each way at 66/1.
Hoping Rory finally wins it though

Half tempted with Corey Conners

Absolutely sensational stuff from Rose yesterday.

My one time I got tickets to the Master his was the group I followed around

Well said. I’d love Justin Rose to win it. Scheffler lurking right there looks ominous though.

Long way to go.

Rory could get back into today too, he certainly has the game for it. Equally, the mental side might eat away at him after a couple of double bogeys late on yesterday.

Love the Masters, it’s a great spectacle.

how about Freddy holing it out from 190y?

Best swing in the game, have spent my entire adult life trying to emulate it.

That is an incredible fight back from him today after what must have been crushing disappointment of his last few holes yesterday.

Hmmm

To be honest his Saturdays haven’t been great recently so I expect he may fall off. Just noticed he had been in a bit of form recently.

Holy shit, what a start Rory :open_mouth:
