One of my childhood friends passed away last week. Was a scratch golfer by 20 and missed his pro card by 1 stroke. I credit him for teaching me how to play, was a single-digit handicap when I was in my 20’s.
Absolute gem of a human, and he fully deserved to win two cars at the same tournament! RIP Rich

I feel your pain. Just got word today that my uncle, only 5 years my senior, is in hospice, and expected to pass any day. He was the smartest (National merit scholar), kindest, most thoughtful person I’ve ever known. He, and my maternal grandfather, were the two people that I looked at as role models. My uncle came down with Alzheimer’s 4-5 years ago, and recently had two bad falls that have pushed him to this state. I’m heartbroken.

I hope you’re able to get some time in with your uncle. time goes far too fast these days. hosted my aunt for dinner last night (11y older) and she’s got cancer. being rushed in for surgery in early October. 6 weeks.
They don’t rush unless it’s bad. Scary stuff.

Unfortunately he passed late last night. Wife and I just returned home day before last from our 3 month trek across the country. Had spent some time with him about a year ago, and he was just a shell of his former self.

Thanks mate. Heading down to Florida tomorrow for his funeral.
To show what kind of guy he was, he chose to be buried in a conservancy cemetery, where everything is biodegradable, and it will leave the least carbon imprint on the earth.

Never before have the Walker Cup, Ryder Cup and Solhein Cup been simultaneously held by GB & I/Europe or the USA.
