Gerrard not messing around - Martinez costs them 2 points with a howler on the weekend, and he appears to be bringing in Olsen (Roma/Sheffield United) to compete for the position on Tuesday.
Not sure about the impact of that though as despite that mistake Martinez has been considered one of the plus points over the past 18 months to the point it was considered to be a move that left egg on Arsenalās face
I think heāll just act as backup instead of Steer. Villa have had quite a number of GKās in last years, they got rid of almost all of them (still have obviously Steer and Kalinic out on loan), bit by bit. Until Martinez came and made that position his own. Olsen will have a year left on his Roma contract this summer.
Steer is crap, Hyland went out to Bournemouth and he was rubbish too.
Martinez is a good goalie bar the error.
In his first 10 PL games, Gerrard has 5 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw, all the while playing us, United, City, and Chelsea. Seems like he can kick it managing in the Premier League (no pun intended).
Early days. We wonāt really know until half way through next season when heās had time to start building a team.
Right, I just meant in the general sense of people going āhe might be out of his depth at Villa.ā Little to say whether theyāll be able to progress from a mid-table team into one capable of challenging for European places, but it certainly doesnāt seem like heās out of his depth.
(Then again, Solskjaer won his first 5 games on the bounce and 11 of the first 14 before his first sticky patch, and we all know how that ended. #GetOutManUnited)
Not sure Solskjaerās team ever looked like they were good though. Lots of sitting deep, counterattacking even weak sides, favourable offside decisions on both ends of the pitch and dodgy penalty calls.
Isnāt that just typical Man U style?
Whatā¦! The Scum have a style
Not sure why Gerrard and Solksjaer are mentioned in the same sentenceā¦
Another good win for Stevie and a great match for Coutinho.
Anyone been watching them regularly under Gerrard? Early days, but my impression is it looks promisingā¦? I guess many of us share the dream of his return one day, be it in two or ten years.
Great to see Coutinho reviving his career. I enjoyed his downfall for a while, before it got too sad.
Emi on Stevie and his first team staff (28:02):
He is a Cnut that Des Kellyā¦ Remember him ambushing Jurgen also a while back
No wonder Carol Vorderman f***ed him right offā¦
