Picking up good experience, and is playing like a seasoned pro. He needs to keep doing what he’s doing for the rest of the season, and then will get plenty of opportunites off the bench for us next season.

I think he’s giving Klopp a good headache.

Clearly he is too good to be playing Championship football, but playing week in/week out is a major development process, so should Klopp leave him gaining really good first team experience, or recall him and try to find a loan in the Premier League where he will need to step up his game again to be getting picked?

I’ve been reading a few Rovers forums, mainly to see what they think of Harvey, but it seems like they’re of the belief there is no recall option on the loan.

What’s the opinion of his general play and particular, fitness/strength

Leave him there, at that age you need to play week in and week out. The fact that he s playing against bigger and stronger lads is even better. He will be a a more ready player when he comes back this summer.

Not taking anything away from Elliott; but Reyna, Wirtz (both German League), Aouchine, Kalimuendo (both French League) and Fati (Spanish League) plays at a higher level than Championship.

Having said that, this loan spell shows that after a certain level, the best way to develop is to play regularly than just train. Elliott was pretty good in the handful of games he played for us. If his progression continues at Blackburn, I expect him to be our regular squad option next season.

The Bundesliga is pretty easy for young attacking players to be honest, not too much more difficult than the Championship.

I doubt Elliot would look out of place playing for Leipzig, Leverkusen or Dortmund.

Honestly, they’re surprisingly nonplussed from what I’ve read, lots of statements like “I know he’s got loads of goals and assists but he needs to be more involved in games”, or that they don’t think he’s streets ahead of one or two of their own prospects, that kind of thing. They’ve also said they don’t think he’s got the pace to play as a winger in the PL, which isn’t something that’s jumped out at me particularly when I’ve seen him play.

Although the fact they’re not making allowances for the fact he’s just 17 and comparing him to players years older says something in itself, I think.

I think there can be a difference between pace or no pace and mostly coming towards the ball or attacking space. We’ll see if he continues more down the Shaqiri route. But there are not just 2-3 types of players. Wilson is also more of a combining type of player, but there’s about a 6 years difference between him and Harvey. It’s difficult to judge exactly from bits and pieces. Fans have a fresh example of Brewster last season. Elliott is very young so there’s time for him to become a seriously good player. No big deal if it’s not already next season.

Just realised that he has gotten rid of the topknot. I am sure that pleased a lot of fans on this board!

Highlight of him in the match against Middlesbrough.

I think he showed great vision and drive running into the box to deliver that cross, but that black (is that OK!) player who won the ball was key in building that attack.

It’s probably ok, but just as ok is just calling him the player that won the ball back.

Works just as well.
