I would argue the main difference between his injury and the other “tackles” Mané had to ride today is that Mané tends to skip really well out of these, so he doesn’t get more than just tripped up.
I don’t see how he could have escaped that tackle from behind. He was accelerating with the ball and couldn’t see what was coming. In some situations, a player can back off a too hefty challenge but here? Not sure what he could have done to be honest.
That’s why I wrote that ‚I’m not blaming him in that particular situation’
Yeah, pure bad luck, nothing else.
Shame because we had a new little layer developing there with Trent tucking inside and Elliott providing new dynamic to right right or central right side of the team.
Even if Elliott remained fit though, I think we were always going to give the “main” trio (Fabinho, Hendo and Thiago) a good run of games; they haven’t started together since Everton away last season.
In terms of game time, this could be a little opportunity for Jones, since he played a lot as the RCM last season.
I was thinking Jones is probably the best alternative in this set up.
Surgery will mean some time but at least the dislocation was sorted there and then that should mean some benefit.
i haven´t watches the scenes yesterday and wasn´t aware that Ali was even praying next to him.
I think with the Premier League being more competitive this season (at least so far) I don’t think the same gameplan for 38 matches would work all that well like it did for us 2 years ago.
We would need to give different teams different looks, different approaches through the long season, and that is what Harvey provided us with. The loss isn’t really in him being BETTER than our other midfield options - just the fact that he’s different.
I definitely hope that he’s out for less time than expected. People are not taking us seriously and it will make it all that much sweeter if we can prove all the doubters wrong.
Basically, we all wish he was our dad.
favorite uncle, yes. Not sure if I’d trade my dad for anyone.
Harvey the best of recoveries
I’d trade your dad for Klopp. Just saying.
Harvey Elliott has undergone successful surgery on the ankle injury he sustained during Sunday’s victory at Leeds United.
The 18-year-old suffered a fracture dislocation of the left joint following a challenge in the second half of Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Elland Road.
Elliott will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the Reds’ medical team and while he is expected to return to action later this season, no timescale is being placed upon his comeback.
Club doctor, Dr Jim Moxon – who, along with first-team physiotherapist Chris Morgan, was first on the pitch to treat the midfielder – explained: “Harvey sustained a fracture dislocation of his left ankle during the game.
“We were able to reduce the dislocation immediately on the pitch and Harvey had surgery today to repair the fracture and ligaments damaged in the incident. The operation was a success so his comeback starts now.
“We won’t put pressure on him by setting a specific timeframe beyond being able to say with confidence we expect him to feature again later in the season following our rehab programme.”
