Dislocation - is it me or is that really good news?

Wait for a proper diagnosis

We all thought Robbo maybe had a break, Matip had the same look on his face when it happened as Salah did today.

Didn’t need surgery and was back way sooner than everyone expected.

Still too early to tell with Elliott, but at the risk of putting forward an unpopular opinion, I think there’s a bit of an overreaction because of his age.

He’s played well so far this season, but not spectacularly well. Ox, Keita, Hendo and Milner all on the bench could have matched his contribution today, so in those terms i’m not worried about him missing some games. I probably wouldn’t have wanted to overplay him anyway if I were Klopp.

On a personal level for him, yes it’s gutting, on a wider level yes it’s a problem that Klopp already highlighted against Burnley. But I’m not sure the situation warrants some of the reactions I’ve been reading.

If it had been Ox or Keita it happened to, I’m sure many would just be bemoaning their luck/injury proneness more than showing sympathy.

Klopp told his post-match press conference: “First and foremost, it’s one of the few Instagram posts I love because if he sends that already then it shows he has not that much pain anymore, that’s great news.

"I think we all saw it, the ankle was not in the right place anymore. The medical department put it in the right place again, which is very important really in this moment that it goes quick. Apart from that, there is not a lot of good things to say about it.

“Obviously it’s a bad injury and we have to wait now for further examinations, assessments or whatever, scans, and that’s what we do.”

Great gesture by Harvey.

This is a Liverpool captain in the making I am sure of it

Yeah was a nice gesture and shows real maturity in the situation. A resilient character who thinks beyond the moment would certainly be traits you’d look for in a captain. Who knows what the future has in store for young Harvey.

Forget speculation about how long Harvey is going to be out of action; the real question is… What happened to the other boot?

It was bound to happen, the luck of this club is fucking rotten. I won’t be surprised if all the midfields players end their season by the end of October, with centre back having to fill in until the summer. I’m not even sure if I’m joking. I could somehow accept that it happened to Van Dijk last season, a world class seasoned pro playing against thugs and lowlifes, but this is a lad still in his teens. I hope he can fully recover, I really hope it’s not the ligaments.

I’d imagine it was probably cut off.

Elliott will be required to undergo surgery in the coming days and the club will offer a further update on his prognosis in due course.

It seems like it was a blessing in disguise that it was so close to the medical staff. It felt like they were there in less than 5 seconds. I have no idea, but it seems that the quicker they could put things back in place the better. I remember with the Cisse, he credited the medical staff from preventing a possible amputation due to their quick action.

At the time, it felt like they were on the pitch even before that useless twat of a referee reacted. I had a bad feeling the moment Salah just completely lost interest in the ball and was gesticulating so animatedly.

Ehm when Djibril and Hendrik Larsson got injured their bones broke through the flesh and were visible. Harvey’s injury is bad enough but that’s not career threatening. Doesn’t even end his season (maybe not even his year).

Yeah as I remember it they were on the pitch the moment Salah started calling to them. I believe Dion Dublin said Elliott shouted “Help me” immediately to the bench but I don’t know if he meant that literally.

Even reading the word “Help me” breaks my heart.

As @cynicaloldgit so elegantly puts it: bloody snowflake generation.

The reference was comparing the quick actions of the medical staff, not the severity of the injury.

Not ‘blaming’ Harvey in that particular situation today but after his first game this season I said that the way he plays is not really healthy and he will get injured rather sooner than later.

Never backs down from a challenge while experienced players clearly do.

Of course he is young maybe feels like he has something to prove.

Maybe and hopefully after this injury he will adapt his style a bit and take care of himself.
