he’s a project player for Argentina isn’t he? … nothing wrong with that in the main, but it changes the way you surmised his international career slightly

he’s got pretty strong lineage … it probably speaks for an earlier than warranted cap and a lot of the noise coming out of South America at the time

don’t get me wrong he’s no nepo baby, he’ had to live up to the hype, but that path to regular Argentina first team wasn’t , gets few caps, struggles a bit, comes good…

it’s gets a few caps for exposure to the stage, left to develop with no pretention he was out in the cold, becomes a mainstay

Awesome from Harvey, he has stood out for England under 21s and not just in this tournament.

Really hope we could keep him and for him to get more game time, but not easy when you are competing with, Mo, Wirtz and Szobo.

I wish him all the best whatever decision he makes, he always gives 100% and wheres the shirt with pride, just like all us fans imagine we would given the chance.

Well done Harvey Elliott. Very good player indeed. If he decides to leave, there will be a number of clubs who are interested. He has done well at LFC. Now that we are at the top of the tree as Champions, and planning to stay there, it gets harder and harder to feature, and Harvey has to think of his career.

What will be will be. Best of luck to that lad.

I’m confused. What is it you think I said?

nothing too different from what i said to be honest, just i interpreted you saying he got caps then had to go away and develop to get more, as more of a comment that his ride to the national team was a bumpy one and it mirrors Harveys current development …where as i was saying it was more calculated, (Maccas early caps) part of the process type thing…

U21s is quite a step below top flight football in the top 3 leagues in the world.

Goes to show Liverpool’s training is top top class!

Between Szobo and Elliot, I think the competition is very much on. If Slot hadn’t had a clear prejudice against the latter during last season , he’d have had a chance to at least get a lot of playing time.

Next season, if he stays with us, he’ll give the other players a run for their money. But is Slot prepared to give him a fair chance? That’s the question.

I think one thing Slot will have learned from his first season with the team, is the need to rotate and use the squad more. It’s more whether he can offer Elliot enough time. I hope so, but wouldn’t be surprised to see him move on for more game time.

No offence but during the PL matches, he struggles a lot physically whereas this U21 competition is perhaps not as rugged as top flight club football.

His lack of any real pace, agility and dribbling makes him not even close to being a starter at the top 5 clubs in the PL at RW.

Put him in CAM, the competition gets fiercer for Elliott who don’t really have some out of the world passing and vision and physical strength…

Elliott performing so well in the U21s while a huge bulk of the insanely talented U21s with the likes of Lamine Yamal, Florian Wirtz, Adam Wharton, Jamie Gittens, Desire Doue etc etc are not even in this competition…

It just says a lot on the quality of the competition though…

Basically correct on all account. Definitely a squad player here, and a starter at somewhere like Brighton. He is more value as a sellable asset over a squad player. The biggest downside with regards to a sale is that he falls under the homegrown category.

If Harvey was a Brighton or Bournemouth player, we would be looking to sign him.
Young, homegrown, bags of skill, good cover and an addition to the squad.

He is our player and there are questions about where he fits in, is he good enough or how much would we get for him?
If he wants to stay, then I’d keep him. I think he is a good player who still has potential for being a great player.

If Harvey was a Brighton or Bournemouth player he’d probably be a lot further along in his development.

Why?
More playing time?
Better coaching?

I think he is undervalued here, even contribution wise. He is energetic and clever when he comes on, maybe his starts have been less impressive. Maybe he sees conservation of energy as part of playing 90 minutes instead of 30?

I’m not sure why he would be further developed elsewhere

Yes

Elliott was coming along fine before Slot took over. He recorded double-digit assists in Klopp’s last season.

I hate to do this, but Slot did win the league, you know.

Maybe he should have focussed on the bigger objective - developing Harvey’s career.

And then he picked up an injury and struggled to regain his place. It happens. If slot thinks he fits into the squad I’m sure he will get his chances. If not, I suspect that their will be a lot of interest in him.
