I guess that’s one question mark less then for this summer.
Really, really want him to suceed for us, he is one of us, hope it works out.
I wouldn’t be surprised. There’s a player in him but I accept that he’ll probably have to head out to another club and play consistently there to unlock that player. His attitude will only hold him in good stead, and I can’t help but feel sad about a player who actually wants to be here with all his heart but hasn’t been lucky/good/consistent enough to make the starting spot his own.
I dont think his comments are about failing to nail the starting spot, but not being involved more often. I also think it notable that these comments follow the stories around our interest in Wirz.
I really like Elliot, he gives 100% and has been a great option off the bench with his creativity, if he leaves he will be missed.
However, he lacks pace and although short he also doesn’t have the quick turn or dribbling skills to beat a player, what he does have is a great eye for a pass to unlock a defence. I really wanted him to be a massive success with us
Hope he doesn’t leave because we need players like him to win the domestic cups.
Hate to say it but he would be perfect for Clubs like Dortmund and Leipzig.
We played him in the FA cup against Plymouth, and he gave away a penalty, and we got knocked out.
In all seriousness, he needs a move. He has hardly played and that isn’t going get any better.
He really should look for a club that will make him the focal point. He has a wand of a left boot, and bags of creativity, but I think his lack of physicality is going to count against him in the big teams, where he’d be expected to be a cog serving others.
Sadly I think he picked up those two injuries at just the wrong time for him, as he was breaking through to the first team and then not long after a new manager arrived. They’ve definitely disrupted him at very crucial times.
But ultimately I think it’s his physical tools that are going to limit him. When you compare him to someone like Wirtz he just doesn’t have the speed or strength to compensate for his diminutive frame.
He’s also never really seemed comfortable in a Slot team. He’s a neat and tidy type but doesn’t seem suited to play any of the midfield positions in the way others are playing them and he definitely doesn’t have the pace or goal scoring instincts to be a deputy for Mo.
It’s a shame as the lad clearly loves the club and is desperate to succeed here but if this season didn’t show him the writing is in the wall then surely the arrival of Wirtz does. He’ll have a decent career somewhere, probably not at the very top but that won’t be down to a lack of effort on his part.

Think he is leaving. I rate him. Brilliant player and guess he will be homegrown from next year. We might not get better player to fill the homegrown quota at the same time who can contribute immensely for the team. If he goes for game time that’s understandable. Salah loves this guy as he finds him always after Trent and they enjoy a good chemistry on the field. Pity he picked up injuries at the wrong time and Slot hardly rotates the midfielders and Jones is also there to cover.
Think the Bundesliga (if he’s going there) could be good for him, more time and space between the lines.
I still believe in Harvey. But absent any unforseen sales or injury, the best he can hope for this coming season is cup ties and a few league appearances. He won’t supplant our current midfield, and if they bring in Wirtz, he has even more competition. Could he raise his levels? Of course, but it’ll be hard for him to show it if he’s stuck on the bench. Gravenberch proved himself by being thrown into the fire because the club missed out on their first choice DM.
I’d love to keep Harvey, because he bleeds red and has boatloads of talent. He offers a significant attacking boost as a substitute. We also need quality depth in case of injury and for proper rotation. But I think he wants - and likely deserves - to start for a midsize club. I’d love to loan him, or alternatively, include an affordable buyback option, if he isn’t willing to stay.
We can be sympathetic or we can take it to the next level. If we want to compete we need to know the 3 guys we put out won’t see a drop in quality and sadly that is the case.
Success naturally demands more.
Harvey is good enough to stay, especially when you consider the expected improvements he still has in him. The challenge for him is the guys he’s seemingly competing with for games are in the same age bracket with the same sort of expectation of continued improvement. At that point the prospect of a move starts making more sense for the player than it does for us if you dont much potential for a trajectory of increased minutes over the next couple of years. And with Dom only 18 months older than him and Wirtz actually a month younger it is difficult to see that for Harvey
Would anyone be happy to sell him to the likes of Brighton, Brentford or Villa for less than £40m?
To Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea we wouldn’t even pick up the phone for less than £45m.
Don’t we need him especially when Salah goes to African Cup of Nations? He can cover for Salah as well as the Mid. Brilliant player just had injuries at the bad time. Was regular under Klopp. Great for quick passing and has an eye for pass and a fierce shot to go with.
Kicker are saying that Leverkusen want him, I think it’s separate from Wirtz deal.
Wish we could keep him for one more year but he might be tempted to run down his contract until 2027.
We probably would receive much more by selling to a PL team but I’d be happy if we sell for +€40m and very good sell on clause.
Not sure if Leverkusen would be a smart choice because they will struggle to qualify for CL in the coming years.
Harvey would struggle for regular game time at Leverkusen and could find himself alienated similiarly to how Carvalho was at Leipzig (something ETH is known for and good at), and I don’t even think they’d be prepared to offer anywhere near what we’d want in a seperate deal seeing as they’d have to make him their record signing.
They’re unlikely to value him any differently if he is part of the deal for Wirz.
