Harvey Elliott (M/AM) to Villa, apparently (initial loan)

I have always had the feeling that he will never make the squad while Kane is captain due to the video (The one where he makes fun of Kane).

Harvey Elliott is more likely to stay than leave Liverpool this summer.

That may not be a huge surprise given how little time there is left of this transfer window, but it would have been a shock a month or so ago when it looked certain that the England Under 21 hero would seek pastures new.

Many clubs have been keen, such as RB Leipzig, Crystal Palace and Brighton – but none have put any official approaches or monetary offers on the table for the 22-year-old who Liverpool value at north of £40million.

Arne Slot also knows his attacking depth is a bit on the light side so Elliott could be needed.

Apparently we will only allow him to leave if Isak signs.

Elliot’s a midfielder. There’s no chance of him playing as a #9 or even as a false 9.

Thats what Ben Jacobs said.

Isn’t someone necessarily like Joyce is he in terms of closeness to the club.

Do think we should be inserting a buyback and sell on clause though. Sell him for 45m but make sure we get him back for 55m if we want.

Losing a player we value and the manager wants this late in the window just because we get a decent offer and the player is interested seems like its flipped too far towards being a playercentric operation.

Earlier in the summer I was resigned to him moving on, but that was when it felt like ti was being driven by the club, with the corollary that we already had plans on how to plug the hole. That no longer appears to be the driving issue here and nor have we yet plugged the hole he’d leave. It all just feels very oddly devised.

Maybe it was a mutual thing earlier in the summer, whereby Harvey wants to play more regular football, and Slot can’t guarantee it, so a move worked for all parties (no point keeping unhappy players).

Since then, Slot has talked about the need for him to utilise the squad/rotate more to the meet the rigours of football in England. Maye that’s been enough for Harvey to decide to stay on (he does love the club). Maybe the tactics we are moving to are better suited to Harvey too. Off the field stuff can have an influence, like the loss of Diogo. Maybe he’d rather be at Liverpool for another year to work through the tragedy with his LFC family.

Flip side is, it’s too late to replace, but Harvey decides he still wants a move, and it’ll be a deadline day one.

Personally, I’d rather he stay and it’s reassessed in Jan.

Also, fuck off with a loan. He’s worth more here.

Yeah zero point on a loan to be honest with Elliott.

I’m not sure there is no point in a loan.

I’d love Elliott to gain valuable playing time and come back to be honest. Let’s just extend his contract first.

With Simons off to Spurs, I think Leipzig are going to make a move for Elliott and get it over the line.

True, but he has and can play as a right winger allowing Mo to move to #9 or covering for him while he is out. So I can see where his versatility aids out attacking options if Isak or such is not signed.

I know Slot has said he values him, but he has shown very little inclination to actually play him.

I was referencing reporting of Slot’s supposed position

Or projected position, prepared position, expected position, surprise position, healthy position, comfortable position, extreme position, awkward position, precarious position, dangerous position etc.

Slot loves him but doesn’t want to play him, so he’ll sell him and buy Rogers, who he also loves, but doesn’t want to play.

This is like that absurdist theatre play I studied at university, but never understood.
