I think they have to sell Rogers to balance out their PSR issues. They can spread the incoming costs of Elliot across multiple years too.
Makes sense for them to replace Rogers with Elliot and potentially Sancho.

That said, Chelsea do seem to have the headstart with Rogers. Don’t quite see us going in for him when we’ve got that position quite well covered.
Which position? Last season he played everywhere for Villa barring defence and in goal!
He’d be an incredible signing to cover multiple positions for us.

Thought he’d already agreed a move. Fabrizio Romano 12 hours ago: Marco Asensio to Fenerbahçe, here we go! Deal in place as revealed earlier and authorization to travel from PSG. Asensio joins Fener on a permanent deal… and soon also Éderson could be done!

Perhaps. But we’ve got suitable cover in all the positions as it is. If there’s any improvements to be made in midfield , it’s to have someone to back up Mac and Grav. in any other positions , we are well stocked with Wirtz / Dom in AM and the LW/RW options.
To be honest it’s not clear how much work has been done on a lot of these deals. It broke say 3-4 days ago. Though there was a few rumours before if Villa want to sell and it seems they are then.

They most likely don’t want to sell but may need to let someone go to fund incoming deals and comply with PSR though the Jacob Ramsey deal might be this summers reluctant sale

I like the idea of loaning Elliot instead of selling him. He’s already a good player and think he has great potential to go up a few levels. I’d rather still own him than use a buyback clause as i’d expect him to improve very quickly with regular playing time and i’d expect him to play most games in that Villa side

The issue will be whether emery will play Elliot enough if he’s only on loan.
If there are some guaranteed game time clauses in the loan , I don’t mind Elliot going there.

Harvey to Villa on loan in return for Rogers seems totally fair and realistic to me, make it so!
Loan doesn’t make sense to me unless it includes obligation to buy or he’s extending his contract as he’s only 2 years left on his contract

It’s almost as if we’re agreeing the now fee based on him only having a year left on his contract next summer.
If they’re getting him for this season too I fail to see what’s in this for us. A player short, a very modest fee in a years time and nothing in return.
Not even as if this frees up a non-homegrown place for someone else to come in either.
