For tat
Interesting thread tbh, sounds very positive
Slot likes us to progress the ball through the zones with shorter passes, but as we saw as early as against Ipswich on day 1, if the game calls for longer balls he’s demand it of us. Last season though I thought that was the worst part of our game. Either difficulty of the forwards finding the space to go and receive it, or they would do and be isolated and lose it. This was the main reason Slot turned to Diaz as often as he did. Even without the finishing, someone like Ekitike seems a potentially big asset in that part of our game.
Pretty much what you said
Toot toot to that
Whose to argue with number 1st target.
This is from a day or so ago
Just wait for the magpie fans when the next couple of 5D chess moves play out - LFC complete the signing of Ekitike then leak to the press that we are monitoring the situations of Isak, Bruno G, Joelinton, Dan Burn, Newcastle’s kitman and tea ladies

This is so similar to what Leverkusen did tbf
If we sign this guy I want his announcement video being Hughes at a checkout with Ekitike. Edwards then scans the bar code on the Liverpool shirt Ekitike’s wearing. The camera pans to a grinning John Henry, smoking a cigar.
It will probably have an article later saying the complete opposite for us
He isn’t just potential though, he already has a skillset that we want from our forwards so even if he isnt scoring big numbers he is still going to be able to contribute through helping the likes of Mo, Wirtz and Cody to do so for example.
And, given the quality and frequency of chances our play creates, I wouldn’t be surprised if he scores more here than he did at his previous clubs.
I do like how he was adaptable when Marmoush left that really is important in a player.
This guy has all the tools to come here and become a star. He brings a completely different profile to Nunez. Very skillful player, has bags of tricks. Technically excellent with his first touch, close control and dribbling skills, all things which Nunez is quite erratic in. Can obviously improve his scoring output though. He and Wirtz will be making defenders look like fools.
Kopstar asked the question earlier but that comparison really is the right one even without our interest in Isak bringing into focus - he is today incredibly similar to the version of Isak that newcastle bought.
Very early identified potential. Struggled for games in the early years. Even after starting to get appearances had a game based less on goals than overall football contribution, and then showed flickers of having figuring out how to add the goals that saw the big clubs who had been monitoring him for years get ready to take the leap.
I still think there’s a possibility we’ll go in for Isak in the next year, even if we bring in Ekitike. We still need more forwards.
Think he will come to us on a free. Dont see Saudi guys letting him leave until his contract ends as i guess 100 million is their one hour earning.
Our focus on realizing value doesnt mean the player has to be cheap, but if we’re going to spend big money we either have to see a path for getting YEARS of service out of them or have them still be young enough and in demand enough that after a few years we can recoup a good amount of money. Even if we get Isak next summer he’d be a couple of weeks from turning 27 by the time he played his first game for us. It is difficult to see how you fit that into the Value bucket our entire philosophy is based on.
And yes, I know that is the age Virgil was when we signed him, but Graham has explained that the different physical demands of the role and maturation trajectory means they use different age buckets for CBs than they do for forwards.
Yeah, I think this was now or never for Isak to join us. Oh well.
