It’s exactly this kind of performative catastrophising that is making football so utterly exhausting right now. I just hope now the window is shut, we’ll see people get behind the team a bit and start thinking more about the actual football.

It’s left us weaker in midfield (if that’s even possible), with no specialist right winger other than Chiesa and no reliable right back.
But we’ve just added a 4th left winger to the ranks, so we’ll be sound.

It is the Everton thread but this was all in response to a poster comparing our window with Everton’s. So this will be my last piece of performative catastrophising in this thread.
You’re correct in saying the last window was a disaster but that doesn’t mean this one wasn’t. We had the chance to address the glaring deficiences in the squad but actually made it even weaker in some areas.
Instead of spunking another £100+ million on a FOURTH left winger we should have made a RB, defensive mid and right winger our priority. We even let Elliott leave on loan when he would surely have been preferential to Chiesa on the right.
We didn’t replace Jones and have an assortment of biscuit men at RB.
It’s incompetence and neglect on a grand scale.

Everton’s striking/forward options are now;
- Jack Grealish
- Barry
- Tyrique George
- Tyler Dibling
- Brennan Johnson.
They sold Ndiaye (their best player by a long way), Dwight McNeil (half decent), and Beto.
Can’t see them scoring many goals this year.
