The Dele Alli deal worked differently to the usual sort of free transfers because he was still under contract with his club and he was still young enough and good enough to have some value. Although they chose to allow him to move on a free it was with the caveat that they get paid should the player play regularly at Everton.
In effect they were getting him off the wage bill and expecting to get paid for him at a later point in time.
Lindegard by contrast is a free agent as his contract expired this summer, so Utd have no say in any deal he has with Everton or anyone else.
