Wasn’t that when we won 4-2? Would have loved them to have gotten docked points and the game automatically forfeited, but I cannot deny enjoying that delicious game.

I feel sorry for Everton…

Everton should be happy.

Perfect timing for soft outcome with no relegation chance. Shame it wasn’t announced around April this year.

They should challenge it and so it drags on to next season

I think that’s the worst of it for the Bitters. They’ve been deducted points for their club having been badly run. City and Chelsea haven’t yet been touched despite having gained a huge advantage from a well run money laundering operation.

Chelsea would be facing no further charges if it wasn’t for this recent thing coming up.

It is going be some time for anything to come from that. Man City face these charges and there are a lot so I’ll wait to make judgement on that.

Guess they didn’t have good ol usmanov to write a check for a sponsorship to tide them over.

A points deduction is nothing to city even if it meant they would get relegated as they would just be back up the following season.city are now in the big time based on fraudulent sponsorship deals, backhanded monies and dodgy bookkeeping. The only way to make them pay in someway would be to completely throw the book at them by taking the titles and cups they stole from other clubs, relegating them a couple of times and a long transfer ban.Even with all that they will eventually make it back up where they don’t belong as the advantage has already been made.

That has to be someone trolling :joy:

Are they taking the piss?

“We highlight the transfer market as a reason why we overspent”. Deserves doubling for taking the piss.

It’s not over yet, as this piece from the Guardian article confirms:

Meanwhile, the commission chair, David Phillips KC, has given Leeds, Leicester, Burnley and Southampton – who have previously written to Everton’s prospective new owners, 777 Partners, warning they intend to pursue damages in the event of a guilty verdict – 28 days to inform the commission they want compensation. The clubs are not allowed to take separate legal action through the courts.

Of course, there are a lot of ‘ifs’ here. According to the sensationalist article in the Mail, three of the four clubs mentioned in the Guardian are “pressing ahead” with compensation claims against Everton. Apparently the three clubs (Leeds, Leicester and Burnley) are “understood” to be claiming 100 million each in compensation. The Mail reckons this would put EFC into administration which would trigger a 9-point deduction and certain relegation.

I think it remains to be seen if the three clubs really want to be responsible for forcing another club into administration and relegating it. Obviously the three clubs all want to be in the big boys’ club that is the Prem. So would they want to make themselves pariahs by being responsible for the virtual demise of one of the Premier League’s founding clubs?

Everton have only themselves to blame. Their cheating allowed them to stay up at the expense of other clubs and robbed them good money.

I do hope that they get relegated and placed under administration

If that happens, I wonder what the consequences might be for any action taken against City and Chelsea? If City get punished retroactively and have some of their PL titles taken away, what about the clubs that finished second? Would we / they be able to seek financial compensation?
