I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

I certainly remember there being something bizarre about it. It wasn’t a small sum either from memory

The club also revealed that the Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, a business partner of the majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, has strengthened his ties with the club after agreeing to pay £30m up front for an exclusive option on naming rights for their new stadium. Usmanov’s holding company USM already sponsors Everton’s training ground.

Dodgy dodgy.

I assume the Russian billionaire made his money from fossil fuels which is amusing if you think about building over sea water.

Usmanov built his wealth through metal and mining operations, and investments,[3] and is the majority shareholder of Metalloinvest, a Russian industrial conglomerate, which consolidated in 2006 JSC Metalloinvest’s assets (the Mikhailovsky GOK and the Ural Steel) with those of Gazmetall JSC (the Lebedinsky GOK and the Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant).[4]

He owns the Kommersant publishing house. He is also a co‑owner of Russia’s second-largest mobile telephone operator, MegaFon, and co-owner of the Mail.Ru group,[5] the largest internet company in the Russian-speaking world,[6] which owns stakes in popular web portals like Odnoklassniki, VKontakte and others. Usmanov is the largest investor of Digital Sky Technologies (“DST”) funds, and holds shares in a number of international technology companies.[7] Usmanov eventually teamed up with Yuri Milner.[8]

Ah right, just one of those who took advantage of the mass sell off of The Russian state.

Clubs have to take responsibility here. I’ve said before that it would be a huge drain on a clubs resources to have permanent security at their players homes. They are very often specifically targeted due to their wealth and general isolation from friends and family.

I was thinking Pickford had something to do with the robbery but it was armed robbery so it can’t be him.

…Unless it was Short Armed Robbery…! :0))

It’s worrying that it’s armed, the spate of robberies we had a few years back were when the player and family were usually at games.
