I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

Don’t do it Rafael…

I can see that happening. Family is in Liverpool, he loves the city, Everton have money to burn, and he could take over a project. Of course, there is his acquaintance with LFC, but at the end of the day, he won’t manage us anymore, so I can see this being appealing to him.

I wonder though how the Everton fans would relate to this… it could be a risky move for him, but if there is one thing Rafa isn’t afraid of, it’s taking risky jobs, so…

I wonder if Rafa remembers Blueshite fans taunting him with
“You’re just a fat Spanish waiter”.

Not surprised really, if anybody can get them back up there to eighth then it’s Rafa.

If Rafa took the Everton job, I’d be delighted for him. It’s probably the job he needs - he lives on the Wirral and he can be close to his family. That’s more important than any football rivalry.

It’s also good for the city to have two fundamentally decent men at the helm of the two clubs. It might help to ratchet down the stupid toxicity that’s crept into the rivalry over the last decade.

But do I think it’s the right appointment for Everton? Not really.

At this point in time they don’t need a jobbing manager who’s best days were 15 years ago. They need someone who can oversee a modern football project. Rafa, god love him, is starting to increasingly feel like yesterday’s man.

There is also the small matter that the man picks fights wherever he goes, and at a club that’s already a fucking headcase that might not be a good mix. They have a fanbase that turned on a manager because he put red baubles on his Christmas tree. Fuck knows what they’ll be like with Rafa.

I couldn’t see a Rafa led Everton trouble the top four.

Important point there. If we can’t go back to a friendly rivalry with Kloppo and Rafa in charge of the two clubs, then there is truly no way back.

Hahaa, I had forgotten about that. Thanks for reminding me, it always makes me laugh. What a gang.

Which manager was that?

Most of my mates are Bitters and last time they were looking for a manager some of them said they would love to get Rafa

Ronald Koeman

Not only has Ancelotti f***ed the blueshite over by making promises of project build longevity, that he never really had any intention to keep… he has landed them with unsuitable player signings that will bring disruption for many months to come yet… Thinking Rodriguez for starters.!
It says a lot about the (in)competency of the board, repeating the same mistakes over and over, that has allowed the previous managers from Silva, Koeman and even Fat Head Alladross (signing Cenk Tosan)… being allowed to bring in players/mercenaries that do not fit into any type of overall club philosophy or long-term blueprint for achieving eventual success…!
It is a rudderless club that appears content to ‘bob about’ in the top half of the table…
No wonder the fanbase is known as ‘The Bitters’…
Must be the most frustrating feeling in the world to wake up of a morning and see your blue n white scarf hanging on the wall…
Poor Fools

You’ve just said it. There is no way back, those days are long gone.

Rafa going to Everton would break my heart. Literally. Please don’t do it. :broken_heart:

Naa, I don’t believe it. That’s not going to happen.

If Rafa goes there at least there is no chance of them rolling over and letting Man U tickle their belly’s for 3 pts.

I bet the principal reason among many Everton fans for hoping Rafa joins them is not because he’d be a good appointment for Everton but because they know it would piss off a large part of our fan base. It’s that negative obsession, even to the detriment of their own club, that rather typifies a lot of their fans over the last few years.

I think some of the reaction from Liverpool fans is a bit weird. Liverpool FC have demonstrably shown that there is no avenue to Rafa to return to LFC. We don’t want him.

What are we saying here? That we’d like Rafa to turn down a job offer that is perfect for him and his family because it might hurt our feelings.

He owes us nothing. Get in there Rafa, lad. Good luck.

I’d mostly feel bad for him that he won’t ever be accepted by a significant portion of their support, and that it will eventually end on a sour note because they’re such a bonkers, badly run club. I’m not sure there’s any achievable win condition there, unfortunately, and I’d like for him to have a nice cushy job where he’ll be appreciated by the fans as much as us :joy:

I don’t disagree with the overall thought, but why is it weird? It’s simply the sentimentality of it. Your opinion is just that, an opinion, you can’t begrudge anyone how they’re feeling.

Like seeing an ex-partner with someone new. You’ve moved on with your life but there’s still a small pinch on your heart.
