I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

England isn’t very big, plenty of clubs within a commutable distance. He doesn’t need to take the job at the local rival of a fanbase that loves him just because he lives 30 minutes drive from the training ground.

I’d prefer he went somewhere where he will be loved as much as when he was here. Although to be fair he was massively divisive towards the end.

I suppose. I just want Rafa to be happy. Working close to his home at decent, stable, club where the fans will apprec…oh.

He’ll never be allowed to succeed; their fans are going to make sure of that. It’ll be similar to what happened at Chelsea. Their cuntish fan base called him every name under the sun while he was winning them an European trophy and securing a top 4 finish which looked under threat before his arrival.

If it were to happen though, we could expect at least one derby which they’d be actually trying to win instead of using it as an opportunity to break legs. And even if he does well, they won’t finish above us. So, from a Liverpool point of view his appointment wouldn’t do us any harm. For him though personally, considering the amount of vitriol he’s going to get from both their fans and some of ours and the fact that there is no way he’s going to survive long there anyway, there’s very little upside to accepting the job.

What are his options?

If we logically disregard Manchester, his nearest PL clubs are Wolves and Leeds.

He could wait a few months and have his pick of about 10 jobs when everyone gets fired and the merry-go-round starts.

Leeds isn’t a bad shout if/when Bielsa leaves tbf

Is he going to Tranmere Rovers then??

He’s a good coach but at this moment it seems like they are picking their names randomly from a hat.

Who ever they get I hope he is fucking awful

Rafa gets a free pass from me no matter what he does
He led us to glory, had a totally correct and brave go at Utd etc and had to endure ceap from truly dreadful owners.
He is an absolute legend and that wouldn’t be one bit diluted if he took on the Everton job.

Agreed, but you do have to wonder what the fuck Everton are actually doing. Of the names they are being linked to, there is a fair bit of randomness. How do you go from Nuno, to Potter, to Benitez, to Garcia?

If I were an Everton fan, I wouldn’t be ranting about any of the names. I’d just want to know what the plan is. At the minute there doesn’t appear to be one.

Why ? It is a good job offer for him I think and he is a professional manager and then you will sometimes end up at clubs with a rival fan base, unless you want to sacrifice your career for romantic notions (I don’t think any managers does that, but I am sure a few exists somewhere). I don’t think he will get them as high up the table as they want, but there are far worse choices for them too. If he wants to live in Liverpool then this will probably interest him. But maybe I am wrong.

For what it is worth, I believe Everton is talking to several parties.

I don’t think they have a clear plan. I think they were kind of fucked by Carlo and that this is the reason why they are sending out feelers left and right. Their board may not have made a decision on exactly what they are after as well.

Seems to be they are fishing around, Ancelotti was out of the blue and they have no sound plan to move forward.

I’d rather Rafa didn’t go but it makes sense for him and I can’t see why he would return here unless In an ambassador role once he retires.
