I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

Will be interesting to see what Nuno can do. Seemed a bit limited in his set ups at Wolves.

Will be interesting to see if he plays 3 at the back like at Wolves. Carlo did a bit of that, though when they had players missing…

Less painful than the 26 years.

Nuno is solid but anyone that says he doesn’t play the most tedious brand of football hasn’t been watching much of Wolves recently.

Nuno against the top teams makes that press high can play some attractive football , but against teams that hang back… pretty tedious and one dimensional.

Normally in the first half of games they concentrate on not conceding and then play a bit second half, been terrible season gone.

I would actually like them to get Southgate when England are dumped outta the euros.

Easy thing to do, in all fairness.

Actually I think it’s a good appointment.

What Everton need is someone to build a team. They have a patchwork squad from several managers who had different visions, styles and tactics. They can cobble together a half decent first 11 but they have a shit squad.

They need someone to get rid of all the deadwood (on mass) be fairly ruthless. Set a vision and be there several years. For too long for them it’s been one step forward and one step back.

Just glad Rafa seems like he is not going there. As he would be perfect for them. He would be ruthless, and would quickly build a new squad through intense cycles of transfers.

If they don’t win the Premier League and the Champions League, within the next two years, he’ll be sacked. Because Everton are a ‘massive’ club, that’s what they keep telling us anyway.

They wouldnt be able to field a team then.

Fuck that! I want all the deadwood to stay. That means, pretty much the whole squad!

Nuno isn’t likely to have that much more money at Everton than he did at Wolves. He might not have the direct line to Mendes clients. He might have to deal with Everton buying whoever Kia Joorabchin needs to move on from elsewhere.

That Everton squad isn’t that different to Wolves. An alright keeper (I know Pickford has his moments but he’s reasonable for a Prem keeper). A couple of big lumps at the back, some midfielders who like to pass but not run so much and a centre forward who is good in the air.

Given all that, I can’t see how he does any better than he did with Wolves really. He’s got a shed load of failed signings from a multitude of other managers to shift on and that won’t be easy. Then I can’t see Rodriguez sticking around now Carlo has gone so I’m betting that blows up at some point in the season. Richarlison is also going to start to angle for a move soon too.

He’ll get two years tops to get them into Europe and I just don’t see him getting a better tune out of this squad than Carlo did. To get into Europe they’d have to finish ahead of at least four of us, united, city, chelsea, Leicester, spurs, arsenal, west ham, leeds and villa or win a cup. Can’t see either of those scenarios happening.

Odd negative reaction, but not surprising, from a small vocal section of Everton supporters on the socials that preferred Nuno.

All the best to Rafa. Sucks he’s managing the bitters though
