I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

I think Rafa’s got his work cut out, building those bridges. Don’t you?

One poster on an Internet forum obviously represents all Everton fans.

Ok, I give in. This time next year, we’ll all be going to the derby games, hand in hand.

bit awkward with Pickford.

On the plus side, Rafa won’t send the team out to deliberately injure our players, as seems to have been their strategy in recent seasons…

So, he’s going to sack Duncan Ferguson then?

Hopefully, I think Rafa tends to work with his own coaching team.

Not sure Ferguson will get sacked under Rafa…
More like mentor him properly…
Fast forward to the Derby game 2031… managed by Gerard and Ferguson

im giving him the silent treatment.

jokes aside, i cant really understand why people are so ‘meh’ about it…hes a club legend, joining everton.

i dont know what motivates him to take that job, surely he doesnt need the work or need it for career progression…its a betrayal to me…

hes really made some questionable decisions over the journey and this is in with the chelsea one for me…at least the chelsea one was a level of competitive club and was an interem job

Rafa’s in a different league to most of the other managers they could hope to recruit and my hope is that by the time he’s finished with them, so will they be.

Did we despise Beardsley, Ablett for playing for the bitters? Or did we just except they had to continue their careers with a lesser club.

I don’t think anyone could ever despise Rafa, and a player going to Everton is a slightly different thing. A decent manager can completely change a club’s fortunes, but Everton aren’t getting a decent manager in Rafa, they’re getting a top class one. That’s concerning.

I do wonder what happened with Nuno.

Breeze tweeted this just days ago:

Same thing happened at Palace.

Nuno was about to join them but then added extra demands regarding wages, back room team, beard oil, etc. Palace called off negotiations.

First it was Everton then palace and Everton again he was joining. I blame Twitter :joy:

it will be weird seeing this flag and knowing he manages the bitters…
I am disappointed to hear Rafa’s jumped ship :confounded:

firstly, I’m a big fan of Rafa, I loved what he did with us, 2005 , the 2006 FA Cup,
the title challenge in 08/09, the players he brought to the club like Torres, Alonso, Riena,
the calling out of the shysters.

but if you take an objective look at his history of been a manager…

he fell with the board at Valencia, despite his success and left after 3 years
he fell out with the board at LFC ( forgivable.)
he fell out with the fans and board at Chelsea, and wasnt kept on despite winning the Europa League, and getting a top 4 place
He only lasted 2 years at Napoli,
He had his contract terminated at Madrid after 1.5 years, after falling out with everyone apparently
He lasted 3 years at Newcastle, but Ashley is a knob, so rafa can be excused on this 1
Dalian, left by mutual consent citing worries about health and well being, again forgivable.#

the point is, he never seems to stick too long anywhere, apart from us,
and rightly or wrongly, he seems to get caught up in the politics at some clubs,
so I dont expect him to be at Everton for too long, if he gets the job.

somehow this feels different.

different times, different money involved, different career oppurtunities and of course, a completely different job description.

i was dissappointed when Beardsley played for them, but not like this.

i understand people wont feel the same as me, but to me this is just another step down in the trajectory of Rafas Career…

the reason no one ghets attached to the likes of Allardyce and Bruce is becuase they know its just a job…i honestly thought the LFC role was more than a job to Rafa…cant shrug the feeling of dissappointment in him AND for him.
