the point is, he never seems to stick too long anywhere,

That is the price a perfectionist pays Bonus.
The Blueshite will only be too happy to hand over the reins in their entirety to someone… with Rafa dictating the state of affairs… and I hate to say this… It could be a match made in heaven.!
Anyway, time will tell eh
Ridiculous statement when it’s obvious to everyone that @cynicaloldgit was referring to healing/rebuilding the relationship between the two fanbases over a period of time, not immediately or magically.
Rafa could be a small step to a mutually respectful but passionate rivalry, but it would certainly take work and willingness from both sides, plus time.
IMO when at the end of the 90 minutes they all share the same community, (non-footballing) history, needs and concerns, the fans of both clubs should leave the rivalry in the stadium and not allow petty divisions to create such intense ill will. If your brother is acting like a bit of a dick, he’s still your brother and you have to love him.
I’m genuinely in the camp of not being too fussed. Rafa loves the city and loves the area. His Hillsborough donation showed how much his heart was in the right place and that he just got Liverpool.
Everton are that irritating and bitter little brother who you love to beat. He can probably do better. But it’s his decision and I won’t begrudge it.
Will be interesting, this one. Sixty-one, defensive tactics. One could argue he–like Jose–is aging out of the game. Career’s been in a downward trajectory since Madrid canned him.
I’ll say this. He rode that sour Ashley bus down to the Championship and led it right back up by being top of the table. That’s the only thing that keeps me from saying this is not a very ambitious appointment.
Rafa would clearly love to be at this club. He was forced out by Hicks and Gillett saga, and despite clear signals on his part we have shown no interest in hiring him again. No one can argue he didn’t connect with the club or city. He fought for the club, more than anyone.
The only thing for me is that Everton dont deserve him. He is too good for them. That video of Keys and Grey above says it all. The disdain, they would rather put Duncan Ferguson as manager than Rafa. . Imagine being a professional pundit and saying show me what Rafa has done in the last 5 years, but then advocate Duncan Ferguson.
The self proclaimed peoples club… That football matters more to them…
They simply want a dream team of Moyes and Ferguson. Relive those glory days when most years they finished just above relegation, except that one year when they finished 4th.
I almost want Rafa to take the job after seeing that video but fuck sakes, Nuno ya cunt. How do you go fucking up two job offers that looked like dead certs in the space of a couple weeks.
Really can’t see how he lasts with that kind of attitude from ex Everton pros.
It’s a bit of the Chelsea thing, fans never warmed to him but he delivered all he could. If he doesn’t have the greatest of seasons or starts I expect he won’t last and I wouldn’t be surprised if he does anyhow, they are going want something special and I can’t even see Klopp walking into that environment and delivering it. I can see why Ancelotti didn’t stick around.
The deafening noise he made by calling out those morons, makes him untouchable by itself. He could kick a baby and I would call it an accident. Add that to 96k, being genuinely, tearfully emotional at Hillsborough memorial, charities, family falling in love with the city, calling it home while he travels far and wide for a game he loves, winning trophies, signing some memorable, Bona Fide legends. He has literally come home.
Some of you need to get over “My Ex dumped me and hooked up with my best friend” syndrome.
Absolute madness that Everton lose Ancelotti unexpectedly and might actually manage to hire an even better manager.
Benitez is my guy, my first steps into tactical appreciation of football was his teams. Not only managing us but I remember his Valencia ripping us apart as well and just seeming absolutely miles ahead of us in every aspect of the game.
I love Jurgen but, because of my age, Rafa will never be beaten in my heart (even though I actually think Jurgen is a significantly better manager… Which is a massive statement as I still have Rafa as one of the best in the world even today).
I think I’ve changed my mind after listening to Keys and Gray and they’re not even proper Everton fans. Hearing what they said about Everton and Rafa almost made me sick. I think he should take the job, if it pisses them off so much, but he should prepare himself for the bile coming his way.
They were getting one in Ancelotti too and guess what, they’re still Everton at the end of the day.
Love Rafa, he was the man when I started following LFC. If he goes there though, I can’t wish him all the best (purely from a football point of view). He came back to Anfield with Newcastle, fine. Chelsea? Meh. Everton though… It’s his choice, but once he goes there, he’s just an opponent. After all he’s always said it, “I’m a professional”. And I still hope they get relegated, that would actually boost his legacy.
