I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

I wonder how much the Russian is pulling Moshiri’s strings over this appointment? Just a thought.

He didn’t actually fall out with the Liverpool board really. He just called them out for the liars they were, setting the wheels in motion to have them gone.

Chelsea was only ever a short term interim thing and he won the EL and secured CL qualification.

He left Napoli after winning a couple of trophies, albeit minor ones, to manage Real. Pretty sure Napoli wanted him to stay.

Falling out with the Madrid board after they basically told him what players to pick seems the right thing to do. Rafa in my opinion is a man of integrity when it comes to his work and won’t accept interference.

Said it in another thread, he wanted to come back here. We never asked him. He hasn’t betrayed us or anything of the sort. He loves coaching and can coach in his adopted city. I wish him well except against us.

Hilarious watching the Keys and Gray meltdown.

“It’s about community.” Well name a manager that’s done more for the community in Liverpool than Rafa? Someone who has chosen to put roots down in the City when he could live anywhere in the world.

“What has Rafa got on his CV from the last five years that makes people think this will be a good appointment.” How’s about show us something from Everton’s CV from the last 25 years that makes anyone think they’re a club who deserve a manager of his stature in the first place.

“I’d appoint Duncan before Rafa.” All Duncan has on his CV is a couple of Scottish trophies, an FA Cup and four assault charges. Please please appoint him.

“You reap what you sow in life.” Yeah, that’s why you two dinosaurs have been ostracised to the Middle East ya pricks. What do you reap for sowing your oats with daughter’s mate whilst your wife is battling cancer I wonder.

Is this confirmed? I’m still doubting that piece of news to be fair.

But if it happens, I’ll have no qualms with it. Rafa and Klopp. Both among my very best preferred managers, both in Liverpool managing the two major clubs in the city, and sure as hell making a genuine, but fair fight out of it.

If one manager can take out that unlikeable small-club mentality out of Everton, it’s Rafa. If one guy can stop them being obsessed about us and start taking care of themselves, it’s him. And as I wrote somewhere else, Kloppo and Rafa are probably the best pair of managers to start rebuilding some bridges between the two halves of the city.

I realise that for different reasons, the notion of ‘friendly rivalry’ tends to be dismissed these days, but for me, having those two guys in charge will go a good way towards that, serving as an example. The level of bitterness between the two fanbases, especially on the social media, is highly unpalatable in my book.

Didn’t they?

Playing in a Champions League qualifier is not the same as playing in the Champions League.

The clue is in the name.

Which is what they’d have had to do at the time anyway

Regardless, they still did not make the Champions League so my original point stands.

I have a question, do I understand it correctly, the Nuno deal apparently fell through because he wanted to bring his own co-trainer and staff etc. and Everton does not want to fire Duncon Ferguson?
I think that’s pretty strange, every trainer has his people whom he trusts etc.
and does that mean on the other hand that Rafa would then have to work together with Ferguson ???

I dont know if /why the Nuno move fell through - he may just have been one of the candidates being interviewed for the job and the media may have jumped the gun? Rafa for example has reportedly had 3 meetings with Everton about the job.

It’s not uncommon for clubs to want someone with links to their club to be part of the new coaching team, particularly if there is some controversy over the choice, to help provide some continuity (For example Houllier had Phil Thompson, cant remember if Rafa had Sammy Lee come in when he lost Pako Ayesteran). Ferguson clearly has someone at the club backing him as he has been involved with several of their managers in recent years and maybe they think he may be an ultimate replacement for any manager coming in.

I wonder how many years contract will they give him hopefully about 6 and a big pay off when they finish 11th next season.

Hopefully Rafa will overrule Ferguson’s instructions to hurt our players.

I feel you are probably seeing another Napoli, some crazy suggestions about making them CL regulars I’m sorry but the club is rotten. He may win a cup there but I can’t see much more.

Ah Rafa ffs don’t do it.
