I’ll have a bitter please...It’s the Everton thread

When the time comes for us to get a new manager I would be fucking gutted if we got somebody in who was considered an Everton legend

The club wouldnt even attempt such fucking nonsense would they

Apparently some at Everton - Bill Kenwright mostly - see Ferguson as their long term future manager but feel that it’s a bit too early for him to have the job permanently right now.

Personally it wouldn’t bother me. If he had a successful track record then I think I could overlook everything else.

But there will be those who probably couldn’t accept him.

Depends if Gerrard or Alonso moved there.

Just had a look through GOT , the main objection to Rafa seems to be

a) He’s not done well in Real
b) “Supposedly he was a failure at Chelsea and the europa was scant consolation for the chelsea fans”
c) He said we were a small club
d) He said we were a small club
e) He said we were a small club

Mmmmm…Everton legend???well that could be difficult.

You just know how this story is going to play out.

Rafa struggles at Everton leaving them mid table.

They come to Anfield in April and we fucking spank them and he gets sacked after that game.

Guarantee it

Probably takes a moshiri to attempt to get them over the victim mentality. They need to get over their fixation for us. And our recent success only makes them more bitter.

Everton don’t have any legends so I think that idea is a non-starter :0)

I think you’ve forgotten about a Mr. Andy Gray. Salt of the earth and a shrewd operator!!

Who is presently in a competition with Richard Keys at the moment, to see who can eat and drink the most to end up with the fattest head!

He didn’t actually fall out with the Liverpool board really. He just called them out for the liars they were, setting the wheels in motion to have them gone.

Like I said forgivable! due to what was happening at the club!

Chelsea was only ever a short term interim thing and he won the EL and secured CL qualification.

He went on a rant in Feb about the job title of interim manager, then went to to win the EL and get CL qualification, maybe if he hadnt gone on his rant, and instead kept his head down got on with his work Chelsea might have kept him on.

He left Napoli after winning a couple of trophies, albeit minor ones, to manage Real. Pretty sure Napoli wanted him to stay.

Yip, he won 2 trophies at Napoli, the Italian cup and Super Cup

Falling out with the Madrid board after they basically told him what players to pick seems the right thing to do. Rafa in my opinion is a man of integrity when it comes to his work and won’t accept interference.

He had a frosty relationship with Ronaldo, and the players and fans were not too happy with his tactics, from what I have read. Plus the 4-0 thumping by Barca wont have helped

what happened at Valencia?

I forgot to mention in my original post, about his complaining at inter.

as I have already said, I am a big fan of Rafa, but i get the impression that he can be his own worst enemy at times, due to his outspoken nature.

He was always going to be the interim manager at Chelsea, he was never getting that full time. I think that was said to the press not the owner who he is said to have had a good relationship.

You’re being a bit dismissive about what he won at Napoli. They are hardly a serial trophy winning club. The coppa italia was he won in 2014 was the last they won until 2020 when they won…yip you guesses it, the coppa italia.

*Yes, He was appointed on an interim basis, *
got to the semi finals in both domestic cups, came 3rd in the league and won the EL,
if he hadnt done his rant in Febuary, maybe he might have proved the doubters wrong and got offered the job full time

*Not been dismissive at all, and i fail to see how I am been

like I said in my last reply to you…

what happened at Valencia?

and what about his time at Inter? there were problems with the board there.

It is a hilarious thought, though. Duncan Ferguson is nearly 50 years old and has never managed any club. Not sure hanging around the revolving door of the Everton clubhouse is preparing him for management. This is akin to seeing Ryan Giggs as a manager, though at least Giggs has Wales on his resume, though in fairness Ferguson has never…

It was widely reported as I recall the it was only ever an interim gig with Chelsea regardless. No reports of falling out or issues with the owner, the exact opposite in fact.

I stated he won 2 trophies at Napoli, minor ones in the grand scheme of things, why name them if not to be dismissive?

Valencia. Where players were bought for positions he didn’t want! I think that’s a fair reason for being unhappy would you not say? And is more than entitled to say so having won what he won with them.

Inter needed revamping, the squad was run into the ground. He wanted it refreshed so fought for that. The board disagreed and sacked him. They won nothing until this year, so who was proved right?
