I had to go back and read what he said about being interim manager. Fair point he should have not said it but even if he hadn’t he wasn’t getting the job full time with Jose available.
Valencia I would say he was right to speak out.
Who knows what if any promises were made by Inter but it seems odd that re-energising an ageing squad wouldn’t have been discussed prior to accepting the job, so I believe assurances were given and not fulfilled.
Can people please stop talking about uniting the 2 fan-bases? It’s done. Finished. Never going to happen. It’s as toxic from their end as the Glasgow clubs.
They are a fucking vile, disgusting, obnoxious and deluded fanbase. Any Red who comes into regular contact with them will tell you they are beyond any hope of ever being rational or objective about our club.
I long for the day they go under, which they should have done on a couple of occasions, so I don’t have to listen to their fucking drivel anymore.
Nail on the head. However, some people on here don’t come into regular contact with Everton fans, so don’t understand what they’re really like. They seem to think Rafa can heal old wounds, but like you said, it isn’t going to happen.
It’s really sad that their fans are campaigning against Rafa not because they’re concerned he’s a bit past-it, that he might get a bit political or that they don’t appreciate his tactics, but because he used to manage a neighbouring club.
I do wonder if Rafa was also just testing the water, and not expecting anything to come directly from the meetings. Other clubs might be more willing to consider interviewing him now.
Not sure if there is a job that currently suits him in the PL and I assume that’s where he wants to be. Wolves wouldn’t have been a bad shout for him but Palace isn’t and Spurs probably isn’t as I don’t expect them to have money.
This should be enough for you to realise (if you didn’t before) what sort of a club Everton are and what sort of a fan base you’d be dealing with and subjecting yourself and your family to.
