Far from my favourite CB but yet another player who has decided he doesn’t want to be part of this anymore.
I really don’t know what the tipping point will be. Trent left, Diaz left, Salah left, Robertson left, Alisson wants to leave and Konate is gone. We lost 20 games, we lost our cohesion. We lost our culture. We lost our style. We lost our future.
I don’t think he could have done a better job at blowing this club up if he had set out to do it on purpose.

To be honest, I think a huge problem in defence this season has been Konate. Granted, he’s had a tough time personally but the early noise about a move to Madrid started giving Trent vibes that he was going to run his contract down. Kind of back fired because his form for a large part if not all season was horrendous.
VVD final season, Leoni coming back from an ACL, Jaquet young and new to the league, Gomez just way too injury prone and now Konate not being kept. Looks like another transfer job on Hughes’ list.
Senesi would make a lot of sense but no links unfortunately.

Trent was always going to leave for Madrid, Diaz wanted a new challenge and we got good money for him, Salah is past it, Robbo is past it, Ali probably only has 1 season in him anyway. Same with Virg. Look at the bigger picture re the players mate. It would happen all the same if not a little differently if Klopp was still in charge.
I do agree on the other points about style of play and stuff. Bit harsh to pin those players leaving on Slot though.

Can’t recall another case where a player playing for his next contract has had such a lousy season.
He might prove to be a loss in the future, but right now it feels that both parties will be better off.

Bit by bit, Slot is dismantling Klopp’s squad. Jones will be next. God knows what sort of squad we’ll have for next season.

It’s all related though. Salah goes from 29 goals to 7 because he suddenly lost all his legs and ability or because the system he was being asked to play was completely dysfunctional? Or because we have apparently abandoned conditioning in favour of extended rests and not training. Maybe a bit of all of it, sure, but it’s not independent of each other.

I don’t think Ibou would be a huge loss any other summer. He’s either a 9/10 or a 3, never been consistent.
But we need so much work done to the squad already. Losing a first choice CB on a free isn’t going to help!

Thats completely wrong, any player at this point of their career has the nous to look up and see whom would be managing him and what chances there are for him to enjoy success here, within the idea of renewing his contract.

If he would have said for definite at the beginning of the season he wanted out… Then LFC might have moved earlier to integrate another CB… The player kept everyone guessing as a better bargaining chip I suppose and who can blame him…
Seems to me that he has seen enough this season to tip his hand at moving away… Good Luck to him
