I haven’t seen enough of Sarr to properly assess him, but is this really the level we’re targeting? Is he genuinely a player of top quality, capable of taking us to another level? I have my doubts.
Reports that we’ve actually bid around £50m for him raise serious questions. Releasing Salah, then pursuing players of this ilk, is questionable.
It points to a complete lack of direction in the squad build. Reactive recruitment, poor planning, and too many players who simply don’t raise the level.
At this point I’d rather do nothing and keep the money for when the new owners with new directors will take control, cause at the moment I don’t see a long term plan, I don’t see anything tbh.
I thought the thing was that he’s close with Richard Hughes, which is why he - and by extension Ben Jacobs - has become reliable for Liverpool related things..?
This is the guy we might have bought five years ago , but not now ffs. I’ve got the distinct feeling that once he secures his ‘dream’ move to Liverpool that he will suddenly forget how to play football altogether , à la Isak.
I have to say that the relief of seeing Slot go and the excitement of a new manager coming in has quickly been replaced by dismay at our cackhanded transfer policy. I really hope Palace stand firm here and we don’t get him.
I don’t know enough about this player; all I see is that people are completely losing their minds, have started petitions against his appointment, and are totally panicking. My goodness.
After they messed us about over Guehi, I would be happy to get this one almost through the door, only to sign someone else (Minteh) and leave Palace with their replacement, and a disgruntled Sarr.
