I’m so proud that Liverpool is the club where he played the most games and won the most or the most complete types of trophies. I hope he considers us his second footballing home after Leeds. Although he surely has fantastic memories of other places like City and Villa to a smaller extent (Villa was important because that’s where I think he was first moved into central midfield and started impressing). Fantastic example and still to this day I think he doesn’t get the credit he deserves for the type of player he is and his importance. Every summer it’s like he’s at least slightly written off.
James ageless fucking indestructible Milner
It’s not even July and this guy is running 8+km!
8 km in 25 odd minutes is serious pro long distance running time. What a legend. I think the world record for that has to be 22 minutes. And i wager , this was just a mild jog for milly.
I know , why … I tried my level best in my running days (Pre Covid) to get close to 7 km in 30 minutes and I did do the research then. I got to 7.2 in 30 minutes during my good days.
Milly would be so proud
That was me at my best and Milly just not even breaking a sweat. I see their mid session times and the time they have left to accelerate when i judge how quick he is… Milly can do a 8 km run in 25-26 if he wants to…it’s as clear as that
I’m a bit older than Milly and I am running 12km in under 70 minutes twice a week.
I don’t think people realise how fast running a 4 min 30 second KM is.
That was his slowest one.
Insane some of those figures.
Not trying to be a dick but 4:30 per km is not really surprising for a fit professional athlete. Most decent amateur runners can do that after a little training. Yes the numbers are good but I’d suggest that all Premier league midfielders and fullbacks should be able to do that. Millie is incredible considering his longevity but part of that is knowing that he has to be on top of his physical game if he is to keep up.
I meant from a “normal” point of view.
Yes we shouldn’t judge these people as normal because they are elite athletes but my point is that even for a “normal” fit person 4.30km is very good
Also not trying to be a dick but we also have to admit that at the end of the last two seasons he didn’t look like he used to look at the start of every season.
Respect to him for getting into great shape during every summer but age is showing it’s signs and his tank gets empty much earlier.
I support Bill Murray’s suggestion that all Olympic events have a normal person competing, so we can see just how good they actually are.
Whilst I accept that stamina, speed, strength, etc are all important attributes for footballers, shouldn’t the primary consideration be their ability to actually play the game?
Not knocking Millie, who is both physically superb and technically accomplished, but the ability to run 4m 30s should be of less significance than his ability to read the game and play the ball.
Or am I missing something here?
Someone on here said he’d lost his legs, the challenge was made.
Just goes to show how important our opinions are.
Yes, he’s also picking up more knocks and strains these days and they are taking longer for him to recover from. All to be expected. He’s nearly 36 years old but he’s worth his place in the squad for his dressing room influence alone. Just not as reliable on the pitch as he used to be unfortunately.
But with an adjustment period ahead of him, both on and off the field, assistant manager Pep Lijnders knows exactly who the young Frenchman should turn to.
“We say a big welcome to Ibrahima Konate: just listen to James Milner and everything will be fine!” he said in a pre-season diary for LiverpoolFC.com.
Oh man, Milner is short
It’s how I feel whenever I have to take the lad to school for some reason. Fucking 14 year olds nearly a foot taller than me these days. Feel like a Hobbitt!!!
My daughter, not even a teen yet, is already taller than her mom and will be taller than me in couple of years.
