He’s a great example of youth development is so precarious. I remember a game a couple of years ago where he was by some way their best player against us, really the only Arsenal player who actually competed on a near even footing with us. And then he was dropped and barely played again for them.

2 year ago Sean Longstaff was winning games for Newcastle against City and being the supposed subject of 50 million pound transfers and now he’s on loan in league one shrug

Credit to more English players leaving England to play more games, learn something different, etc. There could be a decent player in Maitland-Niles at somewhat lower level than Arsenal in more favourable conditions. Doesn’t have to be for the top level. Also his versatility means that he has had difficulty nailing down a position somewhere long term.
