He’s still playing - I thought he was well into his late 30s - turns out he’s 32!

The irony of post-Brexit times?

Andreas Linde from Molde to Greuter Furth on a free.
Andreas Vindheim from Sparta Prague to Schalke on loan.
Rocky Bushiri from Norwich to Hibernian on loan.
Jens Cajuste from Midtjylland to Reims for £9m.
Andrea Conti from Milan to Sampdoria on a 6-month permanent deal.

Who’s that? Maitland Niles ate him?

Ivan Sergeev from Samara to Zenit for £1.9m.
Aaron Ramsey (not that one!) from Villa to Cheltenham on loan.

£20m for Chris Wood to go to Newcastle. 20 flippin million English pounds.

Be tough for Burnley to lose him as they’re shite and hardly the calibre of player Newcastle would have been hoping for. Could probably have got CL legend Divock Origi for another £10m.

What does he even bring… bar being gobby

Someone for Trippier to pepper crosses at I imagine. Strong Downing x Carroll vibes from that and we all know how that worked out.

Don’t be like that - we avoided relegation at the end of that season!

Actually his record wasn’t so bad til this season but 3 in 17 suggests someone slowing down.

Also it doesn’t seem the way Howe would play so I’m wondering.

If I’m being kind, it’s a couple of experienced heads who could help immediately in the main (only) target of avoiding relegation. Wood in particular has played for a shit team who’ve flirted with relegation on a number of occasions and avoided the drop. Also old and mediocre enough that they won’t be too surprised when they are replaced in the not so distant future.

If I’m being less kind, perhaps their shortlist of players became shorter very quickly if some clubs and/or individuals are reluctant to do business with them, or perhaps no matter how much money you throw at even a mercenary type, the appeal of a relegation battle in a north east winter is not worth the financial payoff when they could still very well end up in the Championship.

Wood apparently had a release clause, so need to try and agree anything with Burnley. Just pay it and get the player.

Is that down to him, or the team around him? I don’t get the impression Burnley are offering much throughout the team this year.

Tô be honest they haven’t for a couple of seasons now, Dyche has got a run out of them especially last season but he is going need another now. They certainly aren’t the team they were 2-3 years back.

Way Howe?

Howe way?

Howay the lads!

Makes sense now this appointment!!

My initial thoughts were that this is a strange move, as he is not the sort of player you would think Howe would go for. But looking at Newcastles attacking play, they do get a lot of crosses into the box, just not had someone to get onto the end of them, and with Wilson out for a few months, a big target might be a good sort term solution.

Then you consider, they are in a direct battle with Burnley and Watford to avoid relegation, so something that will hurt one of them, will likely strengthen your chances of survival (ruthless, but P/L is dog eat dog world) so if you start seeing them linked with someone like Sarr, you know their thinking - can’t buy players that they want, so buy players whose lose will hurt the clubs around them

All of this.

Burnley is nothing similar to who they were just a few seasons prior. Completely devoid of any spirit, identity or motivation. Win or lose, Burnley was always good for a scrap. Dyche himself even seems mundane and simply going through the motions. Maxwell Cornet is their best player by miles, but there is a general sense of apathy in the squad.

If they can get £20M for Chris Wood they should run to the bank to make the deposit. I believe they’re going down this year.

They probably think it’s also Burnley down with this move, but they’re like cockroaches, they’ll always survive. Cornet going from playing LB at Lyon to playing up top at Burnley. But yeah, we’ll see what they do with the money.

Adrian Grbic from Lorient to Vitesse on loan.
Marvin Friedrich from Union Berlin to Gladbach on a permanent move.
Jean Evrard Kouassi from Wuhan to Trabzonspor on a free.
Edin Visca from Istanbul BB to Trabzonspor for £3.8m.
Tymoteusz Puchacz from Union Berlin to Trabzonspor on loan, £180k fee.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis from City to Stoke on loan.

Wasn’t he a forward originally? I thought he was playing there when linked with us?
