Big fee, but a necessary reinforcement for our central defense. Hopefully the first of many, even if Ibou extends.

Hopefully he hits the ground running. I know this wont go down well but I hope Konate signs a new contract simply so we have some experience if Joe leaves in the summer. Just Virgil who will have one season left and another youngster in Leoni. Yes we could sign another centre back but I’d rather not have another summer with loads of turnover.

Sorts a job in the Summer. Good signing in that regard. Very set for the future with him and Leoni. Speaks volumes he wasn’t one of those players chasing the drawn out contract riches at Chelsea.
Still though, there’s the stand in issue in defence until he arrives. We’re painfully short at the moment

Glad we have made a move. Doesn’t help us now, so fingers crossed for the rest of this season, but I’m glad for the signing. I don’t know a lot about the lad so I look forward to learning more.
Leoni really looked the part in the one game we saw from him. If Jacquet is highly rated (did I read the tweet saying one of the world’s best? Seems a little hyperbolic at this stage, but nevertheless encouraging) then we are starting to box the position down, especially with three more youngsters recently signed, so we also have a team to come through behind the team.
All eyes on Konate for whether we need to do more, I would have thought. Konate has been below par this season, but then hearing about his dad’s illness and death, it makes you think. Konate played really well against Newcastle, and if he signs a new deal he is worth being part of the group. If not, I suspect we need another signing.
But good new on Jacquet.

They have 4 young CBs and didnt want to pay big money for another according to some French journo.
This kid did tell his club he wouldnt go Bayern and wanted move to Premier league.
