I think he probably figured there’s a bigger chance of him succeeding at Liverpool rather than at Chelsea.
It’s only a matter of time before Chelsea move on to the new flavour of the season. So it’s a wise choice in that regard.

I hope he’s the right fit.
Jacquet does give me the Yoro vibes. But we were happy enough to get Yoro in on a free as opposed to paying good money for Jaquet. Possibly that means we rate jaquet as a better long term prospect
Leoni and Jacquet look like the future at CB then - with new signing Ndiaye and the likes of Lucky and Nallo trying to establish themselves too.
Looks that way. Still have my doubts as to Leoni with respect to his pace. It might mean we will be playing a more conservative mid block as opposed to the high block we were used to till now.
What are your thoughts on lucky and Nallo?
On the few times I have seen our U18’s and U21’s, defensively they have always looked iffy from the highlights?
This feels like an awful lot of money, but it is good to see them getting things sorted well in advance. The question is, is this seen as a Gomez or Konate replacement (or even VVD long term)? I’m a bit worried that we are going to hit problems with our home grown contingent.
I don’t think they’ve got enough about them at this stage but you never know.
I think it was Rodgers who said ‘we fixed our CB department for the next decade’. Was probably around the time we signed Joe Gomez.
Is that what we’re trying to do with all the young CBs we’re bringing in ![]()
Hope he enjoys Europa League, just in case.
I’m a bit cynical on those young players, just because it’s exceptionally hard to break through in that position.
Surely Gomez. He shouldve been moved on a few years ago and probably wouldve if we got Yoro.
I’m sure the club will do anything to cash in on JoGo and doubt Konate will stay.
He does play a full decade for us ![]()
Good to see you back @Livvy !
Interesting player analysis - looks to be yet another player possibly better suited to a system with three at the back ![]()
At 6’ 1" he is not that tall for a top centre back these days?
Konate is 6’ 4" and VVD is 6’ 5"
I think it was after the Tiago Ilori signing, just googled him, still playing but hasn’t stayed anywhere more than a year…
