Brilliant news, if true. We’ll have four top notch CBs and a capable deputy to give Trent a break now and then.

I am so happy about this. I said at the time of the respective injuries that Gomez’s was typcally a harder, slower rehab than Virgil’s ACL as there is more potential for secondary injuries one the player starts returning to competition. Last season he was a clear 4th choice, and it was easy to see that as him falling out of favour, possibly a reflection of the lasting impact of that injury. An alternative though was that it was due to conservative management of his rehab. the fact we’re offering him a new contract and he is willing to sign it is suggestive of it being the latter.

If true, good to see him willing to bide his time and opportunities. 4 top CB options will give us the stability we need.

Ivan nails it once more!

I was convinced he’d move this summer. Happy to be proven wrong and hopefully this contract brings him a vastly improved fitness record for a change!

Signed until 2027, when he will be 30 years of age.

Never lost at Anfield, hopefully he can get back to the fitness where he went on a run of around 12 games when he was the best central defender in the league… Ahead of his understudy… Virgil. Such a good player.

Basically a new signing this.

I would have sold him purely because I think he’s 1 more serious injury away from the end of his career. He is, and was brilliant that one year, and sporadically between injuries. I expect the club want him because of Matip is coming to the end. 5 years is a risk imo, unless offered salary mitigates the risk. It’s an absolute bargain if he remain injury free for at least 70% of contract.

This is my pet hate…

“Would’ve” or “would have”, not “would of”.

Sorry for turning into the Grammar Police.

I definitely would not of (wouldn’t have) used a capital “W”.

With Joe extending, only Keita and Bobby remain.
