I don’t think there will be too many repercussions if the deal falls through. Certainly none at club level - all players and coaches know he is becoming more of a fringe player with each passing season and its his right to look elsewhere where he might get more game time. He might get some stick from fans, but with the career he’s had at LFC he’s used to that now.
I think its on the cards that he wouldn’t have been captain this season regardless, since he won’t be a nailed on starter. So we can’t view him as a ‘captain itching to move’ as if there’s no way back.
He’s like a few others out there namely Indy, The Firm, Grizzy, this Josh fella…I don’t even class them as sources…think it’s just more his take as an outsider.
A Captain who says that he doesn’t want to be at the club and who would rather chase big money doesn’t deserve to be the captain anymore. What sort of example is that setting ?
And remove the captaincy from Henderson , would a case be made for him to still be a member of the squad ?
We don’t know how the discussions took place, but we are also the ones who are obviously open to offers. It’s not like Hendo is not for sale, like I don’t know, Trent.
Why there would need to be drama and people turning back on each other. Whether Saudi want Hendo or Sunderland, should that be important whether, if it breaks down, he shouldn’t be here or be removed as captain?
So far, there are no reports that relationships are broken, etc.
Which part of my post are you referring to? If you are talking about agreeing with a player then expecting the owner club to release their contracted player for £0, that didn’t happen with us and Southampton. And I don’t think I had witnessed it in football until this week.
I mean it could be considered their starting position in negotiations to be suggestive to Liverpool that they want him for a pittance?
When exactly did Henderson say he didn’t want to be at the club? Or have I missed something? All I’m reading are rumours, nothing official has been confirmed and nobody knows anything about conversations between Henderson and the club.
Al Nassar still owe Leicester from 2018. All 4 of the clubs have faced transfer embargo’s from FIFA.
The club is being very wise here, if they can throw 700k a week at a player they can stump up a few. They’ve done this all summer shouted who they would buy, approached a player and then it’s dropped and they’ve ended up with a few targets not the level they’ve been talking about.
That’s why the 40m for Fabinho is fanciful, at this point they just seem like con jobs trying to disrupt clubs.
