Meh wetherspoons have been selling that here for years
Gerrard.
Yes that.
I think the key difference here is if Liverpool don’t get the 20m upfront then Henderson won’t force a move.
Fabinho however seems to have forced a move. I don’t think we will bring in two CMs if both go but I think we may look at a first team step up guy rather than a youngster.
DM: Thiago, Bajcetic
LCM: Mac Allister, Jones
RCM: Szoboszlai, Elliott
Plus Trent moving into midfield when we are in possession (I.e. most of the time) and Henderson possibly staying…
Do we need anyone else, apart from a more reliable alternative to Thiago?
I think you answered your own point.
Is Thiago even reliable at DM before you get to him being injured or not, Bajectic can not be played into the ground eithier.
It’s evidently a place we’re we need to sign someone, not to mention 4 of those players had substantial periods of injury. It looks a bit short to me.
Aye. I’ve been very vocal in saying that we’re going to move on a LOT more players than we bring in this summer, especially in midfield. But there is no way we let both Fabs and Hendo go without bringing in another midfielder.
I wonder if Trent would ever be tried as our No.6 -
I mean as soon as the ball breaks, he would be ‘pinging’ it forward 60metres
There are more good options for a new DM than there are for a RB in our system imho.
I can’t see us not signing a new player if either Fab or Hendo goes, and if both go I wouldn’t be surprised to see two coming in.
If Trent goes into CM (he isn’t) then we need a RB.
It was a change of a tactic and system not a change of a formation.
We need another. Lavia has not been at the top of my list and I would want more experience than he has.
If they really thought they could get him for free, honestly in that case they can f*ck off.
How come Stevie didn’t tell them there’s no chance we’d be offloading Hendo on a free.
I know they’re not part of Saudi’s richest clubs, but find at least £15m somewhere, otherwise goodbye.
Although I do wonder what is our bottom line here, it’s been said that we don’t want anything under £20m. But also, that Klopp is willing to move on if there’s is agreement between us and certain players to part ways.
If Hendo stays, I’m still of the opinion that we can continue working together like we have so far. Game time? Same as always, you play if you deserve, you play less if there are others who deserve it more.
Both Gerrard and Luis did much more to strain the faith of the fans and team mates and both were able to put it behind them.
We have only heard third hand details of motivations and desires of the various parties. It would be on very shaky grounds to treat Hendo differently should he end up staying just on the basis of these disjointed rumours.
I said in the Captain thread that Hendo could, and in my view should have made a statement.
The fact that he didn’t speaks volumes.
In my view it means he is tempted.
Stevie and Luis were at much more productive phases of their careers.
I have no problem with Hendo staying though. I don’t think he is being pilloried here, or in general.
I think he shouldn’t be captain next season, but he will be if he stays. Its not a major factor one way or other…
The big factor is the Saudi connection, and as I stated earlier they all sold themselves by going to Qatar, so we can’t accrpt that and knock this.
I mean… you can generally ignore some of the comments from the peanut gallery
Well, statements can detriment the potential deal for all parties, while we’re in negotiations.
It doesn’t mean he has turned his back on us or we have turned our back on him. Is it not possible that the relationship between club and player is still good?
There was no transfer request, sabotaging training, agent’s quotes, dirty tricks, etc. Judging by reports, it was a short, clear and honest conversation. Plus obviously the offer.
If there were any issues, I’m pretty sure in a massive pre-season like we have now, Klopp would’ve isolated him from the first team.
If certain fans have a problem that it’s Saudi (Hendo basically agreeing to that, whether the transfer goes through or not) and not any other place other than them, that’s more of a question for them, not the club.
But to what effect? The point is we don’t know how much the lack of uncertainty over his situation is being driven by the club and our interest in moving on senior players to fund another purchase if the right bid comes along. If that is true to even the remotest of degree Hendo makes life more difficult for everyone by saying something before there is clarity.
Maybe he could have said something about being happy here as long as he is wanted by Klopp?
Very simple statement, no conjecture etc
I see both sides of the statement situation. While the talks were moving, and it was playing out, maybe saying nothing was understandable, so as to not box yourself in one way or the other.
If the deal has fallen through and Hendo stays, I hope he remains captain. A simple statement along the lines of considered an offer, fell through, now focused on the season ahead, should draw a line under it.
All about the bags of cash and how many 0’s we see at the end of our bank balance, this deal is no real different to any other.
Player happy with the money on offer, he wants to go. Club happy with the money on offer for said player, club will allow it to go through.
He moves on with his life and career, and the same applies to us as a club and fanbase.
