Jordan HENDERSON MBE: 2021/22

I never thought I would see the day Henderson would be likened to Gerrard in any sense what so ever. What time can do!

I’ve said time and time and time again.

There has never been a player in the history of our club who was battered by so many only to keep dusting himself off to achieve so much.

When you also throw in the fact that he had to do it from the shadow of one of the most beloved local players and captains this club has ever had it has been extraordinary.

I think we as fans take for granted what it means to be match fit. As fans we expect the Hendos, Thiagos, Keitas, Big Div’s, Chambos of this world to walk into the first team and play like they’ve played 40 back-to-back 90 minute games when the reality is they’ve probably only recently joined normal training.

Keeping in mind Henderson wasn’t even ready for the first game against Norwich and it’s not surprising he hasn’t been firing on all cylinders yet. But it looks like he’s getting there…

… Anyway I’m off to fap over that pass…

He was immense, especially considering he’s having to play so many minutes.

Forgot he did it in front of Ferguson who wrote some rather nasty comments about him in his autobiography

Nice little contribution from Firmino in there as well.

Who would have thought that Henderson would turn out into such a worthy successor? In more ways than one.

I’d say that Hendo’s was even harder than Stevie’s.

Both are absolutely brilliant though.

fergy says he thought he had a better footballer with lingered than one without the gait

I’m of the opposite view. Gerrard has the ball coming across him, hits it first time, and it needs both curl with the outside of the boot and backspin to hold up and fall perfectly for Sturridge, bisecting at least three Fulham players.

Hendos was still a very good pass but one I reckon I could make. It’s over a shorter distance, requires less bend, no air, and no backspin, and needs to bisect fewer players. To emulate Gerrard’s I’d basically be relying on a fluke.

Henderson’s was closer to a pass Beckham or Scholes played in the 1-5 win over Germany 20 odd years ago.

I think Gerrard’s looks sexier but is in fact a little bit easier because the situation was more open and it was the obvious move (not saying that any player could’ve done that, rather a few). Hendo’s is the type of pass that is often underhit or overhit or not accurate or whatever, it came more out of nowhere and at more speed (luckily Mo got his second touch right, that looked like it could ruin the goal).

I should say, ā€œone I have madeā€.

Albeit not in front of 40,000 spectators.

just because you made the match thread now you are getting all arrogant and such…

Don’t know if this it 100% accurate, but here it is.

It could well be accurate. I could only find the total passes stat where he’s 2nd…

I don’t believe you, not in the exact same circumstance with that intricate footwork that even Gerrard didn’t have to do. I think your underestimating the movement involved in that pass. I know I would have fallen over and at best miss kicked the ball (probably just fallen over in fact ).

Intricate footwork

Sheesh.

You can only bisect two objects
