Bet a lot of people at the Club are regretting not really moving for him when had the opportunity, expensive as that may have been. Look all the social media things look nice but I bet they’re shitting bricks at Anfield.

Dortmund have a model not sure when you expected us to go after him, perhaps when he moved from Birmingham.

With Sancho and Bellingham Dortmund have found a way to continuously ‘play’ the English big clubs.

Young (English) talent will be tempted to sign for them because it’s easier to be a clear starter there and get games in the Bundesliga and CL.

Move to Dortmund for 2-3 years and then get a big contract at some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Imagine Fabio Carvalho would have signed for them in the summer. He’d probably be a clear starter for them by the end of the season while it doesn’t look like he will be ahead of one of our senior players in the next two years.

I’m going to have severe blue balls if he fucks us off after this love-in.

Yes. It’s called money. Money, which at the moment is likely to increase more than the money we’d have needed to get him earlier. If we’d flashed enough at them when he was relatively unproven and we’d have got him. No ways they’re rejecting circa 60-80 million for him 6 months ago with nobody else really coming in for him. That scenario is becoming increasingly unlikely so he can talk as much about Henderson as he wants but money is going to do the talking.

We batted our eyelashes, he batted back but we skiddadled when it was time to really talk to Papa so now it’s going to take a bigger bag of cash.

We were reportedly trying to sign him last summer but Dortmund were reluctant having just sold Haaland. They were apparently looking for almost double that amount. Pretty sure we would have done a deal if it had only taken 60-80m to do so.

That’s where negotiations start though. Dortmund have put themselves in that position. It’s not our fault so fuck their feelings but what do we do?

‘how much’
‘120 million. Nothing less! Go away!’
‘sheesh, okay. Sorry, we understand we’ll come back next year’.

Dortmund execs to each other. ‘idiots, they didnt even bid. Next year it will be double the price again if he does well.’

Liverpool execs to each other, ‘idiots, next year we’ll be back at half the price because he loves Stevie G’.

I may be acting slightly harshly here but I think we’ve missed a trick. If we’d gone all in with a cracking offer to Dortmund and player we would have got him. I don’t think Dortmund, or the player, would be turning up their noses at 80m for the chance of 120m being ruined by a poor season or a bad injury. Thats their model and by which they market themselves to the players they bring in. Would another up and coming player be tempted to join when they see Dortmund rejecting astronomical amounts against the wishes of a player?

Bellingham is well reported to be advised by his family, who have plotted out a very deliberate and logical career for him. Dortmund was always part of their plan, wouldn’t surprised me if getting close to Henderson was another step in there (hes a veteran player who has won every trophy and is thoroughly professional, a good mentor). They even planned a “good” exit from Birmingham by signing a new contract just so the club would be able to make the profit of selling him.

I don’t believe money has ever been a major factor in their decision making process.

If it had been, he would have already signed for Man United. He was reliably reported to have been given a tour of the stadium and training complex, only to reject them in the end. Funnily enough, Haaland did the same, both ended up at Dortmund and successfully made the next step there.

I’m having exactly the same feeling here as with Van Dijk - I would love it if he became our player because I think he’s the complete package, especially when it comes to the mental aspect, but he’ll be extremely expensive and I believe he’ll end up at another club. That said, Van Dijk ultimately didn’t end up at Man City…

It’s between us, City and Real. Any other team are just deluding themselves.

History has shown when we/Klopp pick a no.1 target we go hard and big. We’ve hit 2 and missed 1 so far.

Interesting it was reported over the weekend City would have to sell Grealish to fund Bellingham… Find it hard to see many suitors for him. We don’t appear to have any need for that.

I can’t see him going to Real, maybe in 6 years he might do that type of move but the next one seems to be back to England.
