Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)

I meant it more in the sense of, if he goes to City, the money is obviously the priority. If he goes to Madrid, he prioritises winning (and we cannot deny that they have had the track record for it).

I think we won’t be offering very little either, and the example of Salah would hopefully show that there’s scope for him to be compensated really well. So it is a matter of what his values are. If you think about it, there’s little else we offer besides Jürgen Klopp and the notion of doing things the “right” way.

EDIT: I won’t blame him if he chooses the money either, like has been pointed out very often, footballers only have a limited career span, and why should we blame him for picking the golden ticket money-wise?

… and an adoring worldwide fanbase that are crammed into Anfield under the lights on a CL night

Money is not the only factor, we have Tchouameni’s example last summer. We were preparede to go as high, but the player wanted Real.

I suspect the transfer is already complete.

I don’t think he will follow the money. I think he is well advised. We are biased but we are the sensible choice.

  • Arguably best coach in world
  • Obvious role in team
  • Henderson acting as a mentor
  • Several others in his age bracket, English and excelling (Trent, Elliot, Jones, Carvalho)
  • his footballing idol was Gerrard.

He also has the personality to make this choice. I don’t think he looks at say Neymar and Mbappe and thinks I want to be partying in Paris. He already rejected United/money to join Dortmund instead.

I think he is chasing a football career rather than a pay day like Gareth Bale.

Besides, he is 19. He has time to play for both Liverpool and Madrid if he so desires. Only City can really throw a spanner in the works for us imo. Going from Dortmund who are a perennial bridesmaid to us who only have only won the league once in the recent years might tempt him somewhere where titles are guaranteed.

I’m still believing in this post from August

Very unlikely hypothetical scenario, but given a choice between Bellingham and Mbappe, and we’re still gushing over Jude.

Wow

We don’t have a song for Hey Kylian…

There may be a song for Hey Jude.

For those not following the Qatar WC thread:

Hendo’s gonna get too excited this time by Jude in this Sharon Stone position…

:joy:

Pretty much in full agreement with this, though I think your assessment of Bale is harsh to say the least.

He literally sat on his arse for 3 years collecting cash refusing to go play football somewhere else. Held a banner up taking the piss out of his employers. Not a person that deserves much respect

His employers were Real Madrid, not Unicef.

How much would you pay for Steven Gerrard regen? That’s what we’re talking about.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s the paying peanuts for lads like Harvey and Fabio (and I think Doak, Gordon and Bajcetic could get into this category) that allow us to push the boat out for Bellingham.
