Incoming bid from Saudi for Jota…

Nice midweek watch that. Very promising on the early fitness and link up. They will get razor sharp at the end of the preseason at this rate.

Going off now - hoping to fist bump Naby at the physio tomorrow - I’m there for my Carpal syndrome I got from watching ManU at home recently…

For some reason that reminded me that I watched Alien last week.

It will be glamorous if their accommodation is in Dubai as she will be hobnobing with the Bekhams etc

I think losts of people see Saudi and think of the high life…but Bobby’s wife didn’t look very happy…it’s a different lifestyle to Cheshire, Liverpool etc.

Haven’t seen the game yet unfortunately, I was on the road for some business meetings but glad to hear McConnell played well. He’s a very solid midfielder, I wouldn’t say he has any one outstanding characteristic but he’s a good passer, quite inventive in possession, gets goals, can also be aggressive in the challenge.

I’m more excited by players like Balagizi, who have the dynamism and physical quality but I can see why Klopp seems to rate players like McConnell and Morton who are a bit more of a box-to-box throwback style midfielder. Definitely suits the system.

I’m currently finishing off my “ones to watch” list for 2023/2024 and McConnell playing well really makes my third pick tough. For Liverpool, spoiler alert, Clark and Quansah are nailed on as being in my three but the third I’m struggling with as I have so many players I want to talk about. Bradley is likely the most talented and is the probable pick for that reason but McConnell is apparently trying to push his way in.

Looking forward to watching the replay tonight.

Looking forward to your “ones to watch”, I always appreciate your insight, opinion and genuine interest in Youth football. Iv never heard of McConnell so will definitely pay more attention to him.
I do not know if you have done it, but it would be interesting to see where your ones to watch have ended up. When i was younger, I was always looking out for young players. Unfortunately, my source of information was ‘Match’ or ‘Shoot’. It is amazing that 20/30 years later we can stream youth games :+1:t2:.

What do you make of Scanlon mate? Only seen the highlights but in those he looked pretty lively up the left to me…

He seemed all the above, but what appealed to me was how comfortable he was on the ball, not just passing but shielding it and turning away from the pressure.

Looking forward to it.
As I said I used to read Match and Shoot. I remember noting down match ratings for various players, notably Fowler and less favourably Kevin Davies whilst he was at Chesterfield. I am sure one of the publications alerted me to the original Ronaldo, to the point where I pointed him out to my Dad when he was in the squad for the 94’ WC - if my memory serves me correct :+1:t2:.

Lively is a good word for him, very energetic and he’s better defensively than you usually see in wing backs. Apparently he was a leader for the U18s group last season and I expect him to be the starter for the U21s this year (Luke Chambers will probably go on loan again).

Real problem for him has been staying fit, just always seems to get little niggles but ifbhe can put them behind him he’s an exciting prospect.
