Kostas Tsimikas (LB) Roma

I’d be okay with loaning to Italian clubs but when they lie about maybe buying at the end of it, I’d refuse to deal with them.

I’d actually be OK with Kostas going out on loan, as Robbo is out of contract next year. We might be happy to have a convenient means of backing up left back.

And also stick to Kerkez while at it.

Him and Wirtz need to be persisted with.

While Frimpong and ekitike have adapted relatively quickly, it will take time for the other two signings to get upto scratch.

Why are they obsessed with buy options they never take up. Loan isn’t too bad as others have said who knows what’s Robbo going be like with more rest and a year on.

We better be getting a good loan fee. These tightwad will either return him broken or try and buy him for a bag of magic beans.

And we don’t sell him for magic beans.

We should though. That worked out very well for Jack.

Depends whether there’s a golden sky (or liverbird) at the top of said beanstalk, surely?

Isn’t he needed to go out before another non fed player can be registered.

At this point maybe a straight loan deal suit all
parties. Kostas gets to play and Liverpool can access the LB situation again next summer.

But I’m not sure why Kostas wants to go to Roma. Gasperini plays 3-4-2-1 with wing backs, not with fullbacks in a straight back four. I’m not sure Kostas has ever played as a wing back. Moreover, Angelino seems to be the first choice, a player I see as more suited to play wingback compra red to Kostas. He might end up on the bench, that’s my worry.

It seems like a shite deal all round unless they are miraculously going to pay us a decent loan fee (~5m).

loan with ‘salary covered’. What about a fee?
Is this really a positive deal for us?!?
We’re going to get back either a broken/underplayed and/or unhappy player. Disappointed in this one.

Just thinking out loud…

If Robbo has one year left as a back up/alternate to Kerkez, before Robbo ages out and moves on, perhaps a loan year for Tsimikas is a good move?

He keeps playing, then, when Robbo leaves, Tsimikas comes in to be the back up to Kerkez, who will be more established by then, but will still need an able deputy.

Not sure what this obsession about how he is going be broken or unhappy? Also doesn’t it free a spot for Isak.

Roma can buy him regardless next summer, but like usual they won’t so why the fuck it matters? They must get some bonus from someone for getting that clause in on any loan deal.

Not interested in Roma. I think a loan without some fee to us is a pretty poor return. Sure we ‘keep’ him for another year (although whether he’d want to come back and be backup again may have changed) but we lose control over his minutes, position and formations he trains with. We are unlikely to get a player back next summer who has had a good season, played enough without being injured and then is happy to come back to be a backup with us. In all likelihood he will either want to leave or if things haven’t gone well he’ll be underdone and harder to shift/deemed unsuitable for us. I just think there is very little upside if we are only saving his wages. Kostas is a solid player who could be a comfortable starter in many/most PL clubs and has good experience and age and he’s worth more than a Rashford style just get rid loan. Worse, you just know that the Roman management will be looking to shaft us if they actually think he’d fit in there and will lean on the player to push for a cheap release. We should absolutely outright refuse to deal with these kinds of deals.

You would have thought we would have learnt our lesson about loaning players to italian clubs by now.

It never really goes well for us

I expect even if Kostas doesn’t go on loan, we’d register Isak if we get him and leave Leoni unregistered for Europe. This would allow us to add Isak and register Leoni for Europe.
