Rodgers or Kojak?
Juliet Bravo
Brendan’s catchphrase would have to be “who loves ME baby”?
Should Leicester consider parting ways with Brendan Rodgers? Two fifth-place finishes and a FA Cup isn’t a bad return. He is contracted till June 2025, so it will cost them a lot as severance payment and Leicester isn’t exactly loaded.
I guess that depends on how you define loaded. I think I read that the club is by both value and revenue the 9th largest club in the premier league and 22nd in the Deloitte rankings which is not limited to just English clubs. They do carry quite a bit of debt, although most of that is to the owner - who is richer than John Henry (£2.9bn vs £2.3bn) so I’m sure they could find the money if they wanted to say goodbye to Brendan.
They can’t be happy with Leicester this season i think he will be sacked.
I reckon they persevere for now. Leicester had the added headache of the Europa Conference League, and they went as far as the Semi’s. Without that competition, they’d prob be a bit higher up the table.
That said - Brenda can’t organise a defence for shit, and if they lose 2-3 of their better players, he’ll be gone by Christmas.
I don’t think they (the management/owner) aren’t like Chelsea, Spurs, or United who don’t bother about handing out severance payments. Now that could be seen as financial prudence or financial prudence enforced by limited resources.

That’s a convenient excuse he’ll be desparate to use however;
They were tanking in the league before Feb so the logic then says they were struggling because of the Europa League. Fair enough if you’re Burnley for whom a European run was a nice surprise but Leicester have European ambitions. So by using that as an excuse it would be a tacit admission that he isn’t the man.

I don’t think they are looking to sack people frequently, but before Brendan they did appear to go through several within a relatively short period of time.
A goal scorer like Vardy can make any coach look like he knows what he’s doing. The last 2 seasons has seen an increasingly limited involvement and return from him where at this point he’d no longer be expected to be at the top of the goal scoring ranks. A club like Leicester finding lightening in a bottle to replace that sort of reliable game changing performance is a huge ask, and what we’re seeing now is what Rodgers can do without that sort of advantage.
Their recent signings, Fofana, Soumare, Daka, Lookman haven’t been impressive.

But that’s the point - they are good players, just not Vardy/Kante.
For Leicester to retain anything like the sort of success they’ve had in recent seasons they need either a manager who can raise everyone to levels above who they really are, or have success in the marker where the players they bring in are not just good, but “how the fuck did he end up at Leicester” type signings. It’s a really high bar to reach and their success should probably be measured against where they are now, than what they were able to achieve with a once in a generation goal scorer (for a club like Leicester) like Vardy on board.
A bit similar like when Suarez left and Sturridge got injured in the 2014/15 season. There were still some pretty good players, but Rodgers just couldn’t come up with a plan to make the most of them.
Another goal conceded from a set piece on Sunday.
They’ve gotten progressively worse defensively in his reign. 41 goals in the first full campaign. 50 last year. Now 56 with 4 matches remaining. This season’s corner defending is the worst I’ve ever seen in football. Terrible. Costs them match in match out, including getting dumped by Roma. That’s the one thing he needs to fix over the summer to remain in the job.
Echoing @Limiescouse, Leicester have a big challenge. Aging Vardy and Evans, likely departing Madisson, Barnes, Tielemans and maybe even Fofana (who has attracted big interest) and Schmeichel. Ndidi has proven fragile recently. They’ll need that magic scouting and recruiting touch this summer, and it’s a big ask.
Madisson, Barnes, Tielemans
I think at least one of them will be sold this summer. If I was a Leicester fan I would be praying that Rodgers don’t have any input regarding how to spend that money.
If someone had asked me the season before , I would have said Tielemans and Ndidi as ones that i would have at Liverpool , but with the lack of bottle shown by them this season , nope… No one is even a squad player for Liverpool.
I will be surprised if he is still in charge next season.
They haven’t signed (or sold) anyone yet. Yes, there’s still time a plenty. Meanwhile, Vardy got older by another year. Looking at how West Ham and SandCastle has strengthened, is this the year they start sliding?
