Been reading how Messi can not adapt to Ligue Un. It must be so easy to play football in spain particularly if it’s for Barça or Real.
Ok just a farmers ligue yet converts the GOAT into a chevre!

Think everybody else understood that this was a joke :no_mouth:

Was thinking about Rennes, they’re quite good when it comes to identifying/bringing/working with young talents of different levels and styles, before their next (big or bigger) move.

Dembele, Sarr, Raphinha, they had Camavinga, now Doku and Majer is ordinating in this latest trend in football of having left footed between the lines combinators at the highest RCM #8 position in a midfield 3.

Bernardo a few years ago, Camavinga often, Shaqiri/Paqueta at times, LoCelso often, Elliott early this season, McGinn at Villa, etc. Off the top of my head, of course, there are different types, but we see more and more left footers as right sided midfielders with licence to move around. Players who are not really wingers at teams who either don’t play with a classic #10 (rare these days), or the #10 zone is very demanding defensively (like us).

Back to topic, we’ll see who are the next ones to come from Rennes.

A club that builds from the back, still producing tons of good defenders, progressed slowly but surely. Even losing their best youngsters they are now a very competent outfit throughout the team.

They seem to have a knack now of getting the talents that are on their way up to bigger things. Culture of working with them and also a playing style that is attractive. Clear pathway.

Wasn’t the case when they started. They have got there through hard work. I doubt it was in their initial plans as at the start they would have been looking over their shoulders at relegation. It’s taken them a long time to get where they are. All credit to them as when they started they were a bus parking pile of frustrating nonsense, producing good defenders. With persistence they have manged to be entertaining and produce a variety of players.
I have immense respect for what they have achieved.

Isn’t Rennes managed by the same coach who made Lille champions last season?

No, he’s at Nice now.

What’s happening in this league?

Payet hit with a bottle

St Etienne throwing flares

Lyon v paris fc abandoned due to crowd trouble

Looks like fans there have turned into 80’s british hooligans

Marseille now also out of the cup.

So it’s between Monaco, Versailles, Nice and Nantes/Bastia.

Nantes fans not allowed to wear Nantes shirts. Face a 50k fine, 6 months in prison, and a 5 year ban.

Why’s that?
